Hello,
I am curious to know how many operators use well water at their washes? Do you use strictly well water or do you have a storage tank, filtration system, reclaim system etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated because I am trying to build a wash on a site with no city water or sewage. Possible or am I crazy?? Thanks

we drilled an artesian well. we use it in conjunction w/city water. well alone will not satisfy peak demand.

we had to have air gaps wherever well water and city water had a chance to cross-contaminate.

yes, i believe you are crazy to build a wash with no water or sewer.

big mistake, imo= not feasible.

What if the site had city water but not city sewer?

getting rid of the water would be a hassle. so for me, it'd be a no. a good car wash is going to produce alot of effluent.

recycling is another expense, a system that takes maintenance, etc.

no thanks.

I am sure there are examples of closed loop water system car washes. but if you are building new, choose a site with the proper utility hook ups. for a car wash, this is water and sewer.

would you build a shopping mall with no room for parking? would you build an airport with no room for a runway to land the planes? no. it's kooky talk.

Take these operators advice and save yourself some money, and a lot of grief. While it can be done, for a first time owner to attempt it is a bad idea. And remember, these people here are real owners. My guess is that you are talking to equipment salesmen. Most of them have never operated, owned, or maintained a car wash.

I really doubt anyone with experience in owning and operating a car wash would ever consider such a venture.
