Was visiting the Phoenix, Gilbert, Mesa area last week and couldn't find any self serve car washes. Asked around and no one knew of any. Is there a reason for no SS's in the "valley"? I'm sure there are some but we sure couldn't find any. ???

I know in some areas self service has become less because of the square footage of the land itself becoming so high in value ... not sure about that specific area though.

I believe one reason may be Arizona's critical fresh water shortage. For example, with a conveyor it is possible to achieve a high percentage of water reuse with reclaim system whereas with self-service not so much.

Harry Martin has a few SS washes in the Phoenix area. He doesn't check the forum much though because he is usually driving around the USA in his Marathon motorhome.

I also believe that Jerry Weiss owns several there. I have been at several in Scottsdale and Tempe. There also used to be several on the West side and a large one on the east side on Bell Road.
