I'm going to be installing a set of wheel brushes and am considering the MacNeil Wheel Boss. From what I've seen, the spiral pattern on these seems to be a pretty good design for cleaning a variety of wheel designs - anyone have experience with these or another type of brush?

Also - for those of you with a wheel/tire chemical applicator, are you applying to a dry or wet wheel?

I apply a tire cleaner first, then scrub with my wheel brush in my IBA.

Apply on a dry wheel. Recently eliminated my last wheel brush but I liked the Erie Wheel Wonder. Instead going with another set of rocker panel / lower details using filament. Also trying some units with filament on just the bottom 18-24" of the brush.

Was at a seminar with the guy from Tommy systems. He doesn't use wheel brushes, but uses a high end traveling HP unit.

I don't think any contact unit can really get into the crevices of most wheels.

I removed my tire brush equipment last year. I would estimate that less than 1% of all vehicles on the road have whitewall or raised white lettering tires. I still offer a wheel cleaning option as a stand alone service and as part of my works package. I foam on a solution of hydrochloric, phosphoric acids and buffers to a dry tire and wheel. After going through several sets of friction equipment and high pressure I would say this process is about 95% effective .

I try to apply it dry prior (except during summer months when very hot) to our CTA's. CTA's purchased from Vaughn Industries. I recently replaced my Hanna Wheel Brush and retrofit it with Erie's Wheel Wonder. Had to move it back because of the diameter (9" to 12") to reach in the rim. Followed by High Pressure to blow out chemicals and cleaning.

Hardly, anybody has whitewalls and white lettering is minimal on vehicles.

I'll try to make a video to post.

Thanks - the video was great. In the summer months, do you spray the wheels with a prep gun before the cta to cool them?

Tommy's does not use wheel brushes because of the belt conveyor. It can't be done.

This Tommy's has a chain conveyor. I toured their newest wash a week ago. They now use a flat belt conveyor. They told me they can not use a wheel brush with the flat belt conveyor.

Makes sense. - No Wheel Brush with Flat belt. Point was they also did not use one with the over / under conveyor.
