Got a call from a guy last week that said he put $5 in my ACW and then it actually dawned on him that he couldn't take his truck through with his boat hooked up to his truck before actually doing so. I have the refund buttons disconnected of course, so there he is starring at the ACW wondering what to do (I went back and watched the cameras after all this was over). He calls me and I tell him my only option at the moment is to send him a refund...no dice...he threatens to call the cops on me...so I politely offer the police station phone number...'click'. The cop shows up and I can tell from the cop's body/hand jestures he's saying 'what do you want me to do'? They scratch their heads for a minute and the guy unhooks his boat and buys a wash from me! Thank God it wasn't terribly busy and this guy was tying up one of my bays by being a jackass.

RTP,

You seem like a smart guy, so I'm wondering why you didn't tell him yourself that he could unhook the boat and wash, then hook it back up again.

He hung up on me before I got that far...lol. I started shutting down when he yelled and threatened me.

I know I may get hammered for this but I bet many are thinking the same thing.

Sometimes when a customer acts in such a stupid manner it seems like the right thing to do to let him suffer in their ignorance. It may not be the best customer satisfaction concept but some people deserve to suffer the consequences of their stupidity. The fact that they may be belligerent makes it even easier (and more enjoyable).

Especially after offering to mail the man his money back and I probably would have thrown in a free wash too...even though someone else would have eventually used his $5 credit and me getting the short end of the deal. I really don't give a $hit if he ever comes back now. The best part about this business is that I'm in control and no state or government agency is going to tell me how I'm going to run things.

I've found that these people tend to be so ignorant and closed-minded that they won't learn from these experiences. He'll never grasp that he's wrong. I don't even try to argue with someone like that and just tell them that they aren't welcome, and even that doesn't always work. I have criminal tresspass warrants against at least 8 people who thought they could tell me that "It's public property, I can do whatever I want!" or similar.
