    Changer just... dead

When I first started 25 years ago my SS bay timers would trigger on and stay on until reset after every power surge, Free washes for everyone until I rest them.

    Who’s installing Ceramic Coatings?

Greg, I used the Mother CMX on my work truck about 3 months ago. It gets washed a lot in my touchfree washes when I am trouble shooting them. So far it still beads the water great after each wash cycle before any wax application by the automatics. In a good rain storm it pretty much washes...

    Installing larger meter boxes

If I had to put up with all the crap that Randy and Jerry have to I would fence my entire lot off and put in a toll gate that only took credit cards. People would have to pay a toll to even get on the property. That might keep the dumpers and scammers off for a while.

    Installing larger meter boxes

When I remodeled my SS bays years ago needing larger bay boxes I just went with surface mounts from Etowah Valley. All I had to do was make a V shaped chute that let the quarters run down into the existing safes. I bolted them in real good and have not had them broken into in 12 years. It let...

    Who’s installing Ceramic Coatings?

Here is my Challenger with the Simoniz ceramic coating applied. After car was cleaned, clay bar, and light polish. Application took less than 1 hour and I only ended up using 1 oz. of the 2 they send in the kit. 2 year guarantee by Simoniz. In person you can tell it has more shine than even...

When I tell a person I am a detailer, the most common reply I get, is ________________________

    In bay tire shine

My tires shine setups that are outside of the bay get used really heavy at 2 locations and hardly at all at one. It is a hit or miss deal I think.

Self serve bay damage.......Tractor too tall!

I had a similar incident last year at one of my washes. A tall cargo van ran into my concrete block header cracking it pretty bad. I had a structural engineer come over and design what it would take to replace and make the building sound again. $7600 we had a new metal header and supported by...

Alternative Uses for SS Car Wash Building

In my area I am seeing a lot of commercial store front buildings being put up. Small companies like plumbers, heating and cooling etc rent small spaces that have a office and small area for their inventories. 1 to 2 bay would be all the space they require. They seem to fill up as fast as they...

    Population Minimum for Express

I have attended a few of the ICA and WCA workshops on population figures for express washes. They usually state between 25 to 35 thousand people per express wash. In my area the cost to build is 2.5 million to 3.5 million plus land.

How to size a water softener ?

Check with Dultmeier sales. They sell water softners pretty cheap and can answer all your questions. You really have pretty small demand. You might look into a metered tank system that you can pick up at Sam's, Costco etc for around $400. I have put these in several houses and they do a good job.

    Foam brush heads

Very Happy with mine. I used the brass bushing method for attachment. I have not had one head loosen and I get great foam show like Greg's.

    Back flow problem

Backflow valves will leak when they are properly working. Some leak more than others as they balance pressures. I usually setup a bucket or similar to catch the drips and then run the water to a drain. Some of my location drip a lot and other very little.

The Mothers CMX is better than a regular wax but I consider it ceramic light compared to others.

Vacuums not turning on with correct numbe of coins

If you have mechanical coin acceptors check to see that the wire that is supposed to trip is not bent and making the full cycle when a coin is dropped. It could also be the coin switch itself. If you have electronic coin acceptors check the make sure you have the correct pulse selection.

    Battery powered tools

I have STihl leaf blowers and string trimmers. If you watch the sales you can get a bigger battery than stock with them sometimes. Most come with a AG10 battery standard but if you can get the AG20 your motors will run much longer between charges and the Stihl has a good warranty if they are for...
