Is it just my SS wash, or...

Back in about 1982 or so along with our first set of cameras we installed a Talk-a-Phone system. It consisted of 4 two way PA horns. It is still functional but now that I have more employees than back then I find is less needed. I remember one time a middle aged guy parked after washing just...

How To Make a Temporary High Pressure Hose Patch in Ten Minutes for $2

Hmmm ... 2011 ... Greg's approach seems to have withstood the test of time. Robert ... do you have a link to the Menard's 3/8" hose repair? The problem with Soapy's reusable approach is that in some troughs & in equipment rooms it seems it can be a bit tricky at times to use a cutting wheel on...

    Cash vs Credit.....Trends and Expectations

In our more rural area ... the redundancy of high denomination coins & the fact that that the high denomination coins are more waterproof than paper bills is an add'l service that our specific customers appreciate. We find bill acceptors more costly to buy & to maintain long term wise than...

    Portable Sign Ordinance Public Hearing

Portable signs are used in our industry. It can give us a chance to use our property both residential & on premise in a way to be less dependent on other ways of advertising. Our local city commission because apparently they do not have anything better to do are hashing out amongst themselves...

    Ssa-9001c program

That is great news. That will for one thing buy Steve more time so he is hopefully in a better position ... especially if he would otherwise be forced to go into some possibly unnecessary extra heavy borrowing from the da banks!

    coin mechanism inc coin slots

We replaced all the metal mechanical coin mechs on all our vacuums with USA made IDX-MA800s or X20s in conjunction with USA made Dixmor LED7 displays. It was one of the better choices we made. The IDX were taken out of our bays since the Aussie Microcoin QLs were proving better in the more...

Credit Card as a means to recover costs?

I remember one time visiting with a rental shop guy. He explained to me that when a rental item or equipment comes back from the rental customer requiring more than normal clean up etc ... he does not argue with the "less desirable customer" ... he just charges the extra cost to the customer's...

    Cash vs Credit.....Trends and Expectations

Earl makes a good point about the IBA vs Self Service. Also the ones who do not accept any coins or tokens at all would be a skewing factor. I am pretty sure our actual customers who use our onsite ATM - Credit Card Process is in the less than the 30% category. Within those are a large...

Sometimes I fail to appreciate the honest ones...

Since this thread appears to include self service ... We have for many years before entering towards each of our six 10'-13' range of height overhead doors ... a dangling sign that they would hit first. The sign states 6" below the actual clearance. The sign also states that the door must be...

    Vacuum dirt canisters

It has been awhile but I remember back in the late seventies & early eighties there was a retired person who I allowed to remove the dirt in our 4 vacuums. He would do it when the place was not busy. He was a close friend of the next door patriarch of a large body shop family so he tended to...

    "Canned Response" needed!!!

Yup ... I will have to keep that what can be a potentially evil vice in check! I was more suggesting ... rather than taking the law into one's own hands. We probably want to avoid going so far as .... "vigilantism" though!

Thanks MEP001, This even confirms what you say but is a bit more thorough in a worthwhile way! Dewalt has a pretty good reputation & they sell both: https://healthyhandyman.com/cobalt-vs-titanium-drill-bits/

    "Canned Response" needed!!!

Soapy & others, Based on me being somewhat sheepishly enamored by the small claim Court TV shows ... I would say you could collect some money for damages & emotional distress by taking your fellow operator to small claims court! We have a similar problem but it is more related to the...

    Strange electrical question

Mac, I might be worth it to give the below outfit's tech support a call. They are specifically stating avoiding the need for a 3 phase hookup for over 30 HP motors??? https://singlephasepowersolutions.com/bellemotor/

    Strange electrical question

If it is that expensive ($30K) just to get the utility company to bring in 3 phase to the building & no further, I would say to use VFDs & inverter duty motors like some of our laundromat equipment. Just a thought.
