    New wash

It sounds like you are in the beginning stages of your idea about the car wash business. I suggest the following: educate yourself first through traditional means; work at a car wash yourself ( GASP!) to see what the business involves. Go to the ICA show or regional trade shows. Attend the...

    Derrrr David!!

FWIW: I raised my per swipe maximum charge on crypto pay to $15. I'm happy with the amounts I see on my report that are above $10 ( my old swipe limit).

    post-corona advertising ideas?

I bought 5 new 'swooper' flags for my lot last week and I'll be pouring concrete bases for the ground spikes this weekend. I'm thinking I will buy one of these: It'll be about $1000 including shipping. I've wanted one for awhile, and I'm imagining all the possibilities for messages on each side.

    Advice on Razor Settings

I use hi / hi on my no touch ( not a razor). 10 sec dwell for each pass. I mix my own soap ( simoniz correct powder and simoniz foam additive) and apply it heavy. I like it to 'paint' the car, meaning good coverage of milky white foamy soap. Seems to work for me.

    Has anyone ever regretted Cryptopay

You have to go into your cryptopay merchant account and re-configure the swiper settings if you want a different min / max charge. I was $10 max per swipe on my wand bays. I just raised max to $15. When I looked at the sales today I noticed a bunch of charges over $10. One was $30!

    Trash Cans

I see your points! Every wash IS different and we can't be here 24/7. We all have to run the business, and not let the business run us.

    Pepsi/Coke Vending Machines

I had a machine owned by coke. What a miserable failure. The checks came but were tiny. You can make some money vending soda, I think. But what you're getting paid for is: stocking the machine, buying the soda, trucking it to your wash, emptying the money and maintaining the equipment...

    Trash Cans

I plan to keep trash cans for as long as I own the wash, because I am a car detailer by trade. Part of cleaning a car properly is throwing the trash away that accumulates in the car. You are offering an inferior service by not giving people a way to dispose of their car trash. It's bad...

Pay Damage Claim Out of Pocket or No?

I did pay the claim to the insurance company, not to her or the body shop. FYI the amount I paid was different ( lower ) than she or the bodyshop wanted. Customer then took me to small claims court. I remember vividly, because I was right in the middle of what I like to refer to as :"...

    Has anyone ever regretted Cryptopay

Crypto pay is an awesome addition to the car wash! My minimum is $5. Max $10. It gets ALOT of use and that is only increasing!!! Crazy not to have it, IMO.

Replacing working IBA's for new equipment, when does it make sense?

Yep; I'm in a pokey little Western Massachusetts town. My competitor is at $17 ( friction rollover ). Pricing can be either market-based or cost-based or a combination of the two. If you have brand new equipment, and your competitor does not, why would you want to match his $12 price? I would...

Installing a pad heat system and need a glycol feed tank to isolate feed

I also bought my Raypak boilers thru Huron Valley Sales. Mine are 13 years old and perform wonderfully. Another key component I have found very effective is a Spirovent; it automatically removes air from the system. Pretty cool...
