    garage door openers

Check with Airlift. I think they make an electric opener that will work on any door with a 1" shaft.

Which would you do, if anything ? Need some recommendations

Definitely an added value, how much? Who knows? IIRC, he is in rural TX or OK. That area seems to always be way behind the rest of the country in pricing (especially SS prices). You OTOH, seem to be in probably the highest priced region, so maybe not a real easy comparison.

Which would you do, if anything ? Need some recommendations

I'm guessing that's probably normal for his market, pricewise. The prepping, I would never have started. Those are worms you just can't easily put back in the can.

    Sold my wash

Congrats Duane. I met you back in 2006 when you gave us a ride back to Luxor. I had no idea that you were pretty much a greenhorn. You seemed to take to the challenges pretty well. Good luck in whatever comes next.

How should I apply a Rust Inhibator in my IBA

That's the way my wash was set up when built. After a few years I took it offline when the chemical ran out. I eventually took it off the sign when updating prices or whatever. Never did anyone ask what it was, what it does, or why it was deleted...ever. Not one person in 24 years. The only...

    Switching to count up.

"Press green button when done" Also, change the "Stop" sticker on the dial to "Off", and use a less obvious color than white on a red background. In other words, don't make it look like a stop sign.

    Everwash / Subscription Services

I think you are limited to one wash per day.

    Earning a profit

Seriously??? It needs to be in the rules that excessive profanity isn't allowed? I'm going to edit out the ones in this post, but there won't be a need next time.

    Boiler sizing

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of a tankless? Seems like a tank style heater would be more practical and save a lot of space at the same time.

    Pump stand walking

If it's just walking, it doesn't need to be fastened to the floor. Just drill a hole through the frame (if there isn't one already) and into the floor, and drop a bolt through it. Do this in two places on each stand, and you're done.

    Thawing frozen hoses

I once had bay 3 freeze in the attic (don't remember the reason). Bays 1&2 didn't freeze. I unhooked the HP hose from the bay 3 manifold and pulled it back into the eq. room 16', so it would lay alongside the working hoses for bays 1&2. By the next day it was thawed. In my experience, the hoses...

DakotaHoskins has everwash in a small town in Ky. I'm not sure if he uses it for his SS bays though.

    Switched to count up today

My reasoning for not putting up a sign would be that they would keep washing until finished, on their dime. The sign IMO, makes them think they need to learn something else, when in actuality, you removed unnecessary steps. Maybe a sticker reminding them to push the "green" stop button...

    Oil/Water Mixture Mess

It pretty much has to be a plunger issue. Possibly a broken plunger, or the washer under the plunger bolt. If the seals in the manifold failed, it should leak into the floor and not back into the crankcase. Pull the head off. I bet it will be obvious.

Why did you put up a sign?

Poll: Do you clean your car wash pits yourself?

On my dad's first wash, back in the early 70s, we shoveled them out, directly into the dumpster. All subsequent washes, we built with large pits and always paid to have them cleaned.
