    Roof, Wood or Metal

I've got a 2 yr old self serve with concrete block walls and 4/12 pitch wood trusses spaced 2 ft on center. White steel roofing panels for ceiling of the bays. Trusses look similar as the picture posted by jprb--Have 8 ft clear in center of truss and 4 ft headroom at center. No issues...

    Any numismatist out there?

I started picking up pennies again... do the math: it only takes a second to pick up a penny and that is equivalent to making $36 per hour... If you are slow and it takes two seconds to pick up a penny, you are only making $18 per hour. Unfortunately, $18 per hour is more than I made last...

    testing grit waste

TSS = total suspended solids BOD = Biochemical Oxygen Demand BOD basicly is a test to determine how fast biological organisms use up oxygen in a body of water. TSS is what can not be filtered from water using filter paper. Both of these tests are usually sent out to a lab for analysis. Have...

    Foam like shaving cream

MEP--you have a good point. I see many people using foam brushes on dry vehicles. Right now my foam is just how you describe--it is a little soupy and plops out of brush. Maybe my customers like it this way because I get a lot of brush usage. I pulled my tee apart and in the 1/4x2 nipple...

    Foam like shaving cream

Alright it was a dumb question... I just saw a link to 'foam generator' in Similar Threads portion of this page... think I understand what a foam generator is now... might have to play around with this a little later after my wife gets home and I get a break from being a responsible parent.

    Foam like shaving cream

Ok... this may be a dumb question, but what is a foam generator? My current setup just has a tee with 3 hose barbs attached--air and soap go in and the mix comes out to the hose to the foam brush.

    Foam like shaving cream

I've been comparing my wash to other washes in my area and some have foam that looks like shaving cream coming out of their foam brushes. My current foam brush setup is a pump for pumping foam brush soap from my hydrominder and a separate air line that tees together just before the boom in the...

    Threaded stainless steel pipe

McMaster-Carr stocks various lengths of SS pipe. A 5 ft long piece of 316 SS is part # 4816K54 and is $77.37. They will also do a special order for an up charge. They are not cheap, but they have almost anything you can imagine in stock. If you can find anyone locally, you would save money...

    Infloor options.. tried to search..

This depends on what fuels you have available and what operating costs and equipment costs are. Propane is a little more than natural gas, but may be cost effective depending when you purchase it or lock in price. Current price in my area is above $3 per gallon, but in summer you could lock in...

    Variable Frequency Drive

I want to do this to mailnly protect the pump. I just had a bay freeze and ruined a pump due to overheating. This has happened twice this year and I am tired of throwing money away on pump parts. I already have one VFD to use as a test, so first one won't cost anything but my time.

    Variable Frequency Drive

I'd like to convert my current basic high pressure pump setup and add a VFD and pressure transducer to control pump pressure. I'm running Cat 310 pumps w/ 5 hp 3 ph motor controled by a simple motor starter contactor. Has anyone done this? Is there any issues or things that I need to look out...

    Numbers

I am in Ohio and I don't have a lot of experience yet, but Jan 2007 was very cold and lots of bad weather--no one wanted to leave the house, let alone wash their cars. Jan 2008 was double the income of Jan 2007. Feb 2008 is on par with 2007.

    Interest Rates

I love banks... I called my current bank 2 days ago and never received a callback. So I call again and was able to call and track down the person that I needed to speak with (names and faces at the bank keep changing)... He suggested modifying my existing loan and could drop me down around...

    Interest Rates

Has anyone talked to their banks recently regarding interest rates for a refi? My current interest rate is higher than I'd like to see and was wondering if this might be a good opportunity to lower my interest expense. I made an inquiry to my bank this morning, but haven't received a call...

    Rotary Switches

Thanks for the replys... I thought that 1 1/2 years was a short time for one of these to last, but then again that is typical for my luck. PB Blaster was able to free up switch and buy me some time to order a replacement as I don't have one in my spare parts inventory.

    Rotary Switches

How long typically does a rotary switch on a bay coin meter last? I have one that is getting very hard to turn and is only about 1.5 yrs old. Can you spray anything inside the switch (like PB Blaster) to free it up again?

Setting up a weep recycle system

I bought the supplies for doing something very similar to what you are describing a week ago, but haven't found time to hook up yet... I won't be able to get to this for another week, but hopefully can work on this project and get it running by first of February. Here's what I'm planning to...
