Our bill changers have been hammered since all of this started. I think initially it was because people didn't want to wait in line at the bank to get change. Now it's hard to get change at the banks, so they keep on coming here. We've caught local businesses using our changers too. Put a stop...
Our customers don't read any of our other signs, so I think we'll skip the additional signage. We don't wear masks, and neither do 99% of our customers. I (personally) think it's silly to require/wear them in a carwash environment.
We have a similar setup. I'd guess we weld them up about once a year, as they break in different spots (usually along the edges for us). We have a welder and do the work ourselves, so it's an easy fix for us.
Our bill changers have been getting way more use than usual. People are emptying both hoppers in a day. The local banks are still drive through only and people don't want to wait in line. So they come to our place and clean us out. We're debating taking ours offline, as we are having trouble...
That's the issue we ran into with the tanks. My whole family is pretty talented using a welder, but if you can't get at the welds it doesn't do you any good. I honestly can't believe how crappy some of the welds are coming out of their factory. One tank failed in less than a month (although that...
We have a guy that spends 1-2 hours each morning (M-F) at our wash - strictly cleaning, we do all of our own repairs. My brother and I alternate each evening and spend an hour there in the evenings. Our guy has the weekends off, and again my brother and I alternate the morning and evening...
We were told by our dealer that they see most WW's replaced around 100k. We're at 175k on one side and 125k on the other, and still going strong. We do 99% of our own maintenance, and we do a lot of "preventative" maintenance as well.
Not to toot my own horn, but our dealer said he has never...
Almost every door manufacturer that I spoke with recommended against vinyl doors if we had windy conditions (we are on a flat area in the middle of an oxbow in the river - so we get lots of wind). We have polycarbonate doors now, with air. We absolutely hate the air setup - it's a constant...
If we didn't have trash cans, they would just stack their trash on the vacuum islands... more than they already do now.
We lock our dumpster, and are fortunate in the regard that no one seems to mess with it. Occasionally we'll get some bags of house trash stacked next to the dumpster, but that...
Our attendant is only on-site for 1-3 hours each day, depending on how busy we were the day before (he does mornings, while we're at our "day jobs" and we clean it in the afternoons). Because he has low hours (5-15) each week we pay him $18/hr to make it worthwhile. He is doing this for side...
I drove halfway across the state last Friday, and was shocked to see how many car washes were closed. We are still open, and are swamped (when the weather cooperates). I'm sure this will tail off, as the stay-at-home orders get extended. I'm sure when peoples wallets get lighter from not working...
My thoughts exactly. Still going to have to heat the joint and keep it semi-lit at night. May as well take what business trickles in during that time. We don't have employees/attendents so our place (2 IBAs and 2 SS bays) is technically all serve-yourself.
Contrary to my earlier post, we decided to stay open (in Northeastern PA). Has been very rainy this week, but the sun came out for a little while yesterday and business picked up. Today is supposed to be sunny and beautiful, so that should give us a better idea of how things have been impacted...
Well, update for those of us in PA. Our Governor just mandated that all "non-life sustaining" businesses must be closed by 12:01 Saturday morning. Failure to comply can result in citations, fines, and revocation of license to operate a business in the state. Needless to say we are closing today...
I'm in PA. Our Governor just mandated that all "non-life sustaining" businesses must be closed by 12:01 Saturday morning. Failure to comply can result in citations, fines, and revocation of license to operate a business in the state. Needless to say we are closing today (and not happy about it).
No difference in my neck of the woods (northeastern PA). But we are in a rural area, where stone quarries are the biggest industry. So people are still going to work.
