Hi Randall, Check the pressure regulator and replace if old or worn.
Your test in removing the weep spray handle indicates a probabililty that the regulator is not bypassing, or the bypass hose is restricted.

I recommend changing oil a couple times a year, regardless of hrs.. I do not see any benefit in not changing oil.

Pump oil help
30wt non-detergent is common and ok to use. Stay away from detergent oils as the splasing in the crankcase can induce foaming.
We use a multi-blend non-detergent premium, SHELL TELLUS S2V100 MULTI-WT ISO 100 - SAE 20W40.
Local oil suppliers can furnish this or an equivalent...
Hi Slash007,
Correct, the pop-off is safety backup in case your main regulator ceases to work.
Being the pop-off leaks at low pressure, it may be worn or stuck open because of debris stuck between the ball and seat.
Remove pop-off valve and plug port.
Back off the pressure regulator before...

30wt non-detergent is common and ok to use. Another option is a multi-blend such as SHELL TELLUS S2V100, MULTI-WT ISO 100 - SAE 20W40 non-detergent.
Using any oil equivilants mentioned here and in previous posts will not let you down, but using no oil will.
Do not use detergent...
Arimitsu Pump - Great Pumps
For crying out loud Copperglobe, at least dust off your 516’s twice a year and check the oil…..show a little love.
Oil leaks are rare, but not necessarily uncommon as I have provided repair estimates from time to time on pumps, and yes even the popular 310 during my...
2Biz,
I agree with I.B. and MEP, from a pump wear standpoint an accumulator is not necessary when used with a triplex pump, nor will you notice any difference. If a dampener is 20yrs old and appears to be working, it likely isn't doing anything anyway....its just there.
I see what you read...
Hi Bubbles,
If your pump stands are equiped with Zero Pressure Regulators, they will look like this and are installed on the pump supply side;

I agree with MEP, your "regulator" which is on the pump discharge side is not...
Hi Bubbles,
What you could "hearing" is the pump starving for water.
Your pump may be starving for water when in spray mode.
When the trigger is pulled, the water draw through the inlet line to the pump is greater than when the trigger is released.
When the trigger is released, water...
Hi Classic1,
I can help a little here from prior distributor work I was involved with; when doing a websearch for this valve, change the M1 to an *. Search "vsn16-501-*52". M1 is a voltage code and the rest of the part # refers to its function, porting, etc.

GoBuckeyes,
The 516 and 310 are same RPM/GPM so no pulley change here.
The 313 is 100RPM difference, however with most folks I have assisted, the same pulleys can be used pending the nozzle size they have.
With either model, the H-bushing change is necessary.
313=18mm, 516=22mm, 310=20mm...

2Biz,
You're on the right track and the forum here is helpful. Step by step diagnosis and patience will go a long way.
In addition to your motor test, this is a good time for a simple pump crankcase and bearing check; With the belt removed and a discharge port open, rotate...
Hi Randall,
Check your pressure regulator also. What does the pressure gauge read?
If the pressure regulator fails to open, loose belts can be a blessing.

Hi Sparkey,
To each question you have;
5hp is commonly used, 3hp is typically plenty for self serve applications if set at 1000 psi or less. Seen some old systems over the years w/2hp also, these in the 700 psi range.
ie; approx. 2.7 hp is required to drive the 313 or 516, 4 gpm @ 1000 psi...
