Cat 623 pump chugs

When its running(handle is not depressed in bay)it chugs.

When the handle is pressed,it runs fine.

Things i've done~Replaced and tighten belt~Same issue

Replaced contactors in the NEMA motor starter.

What puzzles me,is when i disconnect the handle in the

bay it runs great(just the bay hose)...no problem

When i replace the handle(old or new) without the wand

it has the same issue(i've used the sw1500 weep handle

from kleen rite) Anybody ever have this problem.. i'm

stumpped...thanks

What does the gauge read with the trigge pulled/not pulled?

What exactly do you mean by "chugs?"

Not sure about pressure reading...I'll look at theat today

As far as chuging..it stops and goes,instead of running smoothly

Hi Randall, Check the pressure regulator and replace if old or worn.
Your test in removing the weep spray handle indicates a probabililty that the regulator is not bypassing, or the bypass hose is restricted.
