This is discrimination on us white boys that need some color, Obviously our president doesn't like tanning Booths--Pure Racism

Seriously though i don't like the way -they have hurt this industry with a nonsense tax, and could do the same for car washes saying the tax will be used for roads or water treatment Etc. I thought we had enough taxes without anymore. In Mn with my washes we already pay a 6.9% sales tax, which we absorb as our prices are the same as our ND washes. Starting to feel like the old couple that can't afford the house they have lived in all their their life

Uh, last time I checked you needed a majority of 100 Senators, and 435 reps to pass a bill and then one president to sign. So, somehow out of the 536 people involved one is more responsible than the majority of the 535?

Last time I checked the Democrats held the majority in Congress and we had a Democratic President. Who do you suppose is responsible for such a tax?

My wife had one bed in her salon. When this tax came out, she made the decision to take the bed out. I removed it one day before the tax went into effect. She can use that room for something else; without collecting an extra tax. This government is going to tax us all out of business; unless something changes soon.

I guess we could suppose all day long. Instead, someone can show us a roll call vote of both parties which specifies:
A. The race of the Senators and Reps voting for it; and
B. Their party affiliation

It will then be a statistical certainty as to which race(s) and party(s) is / are most or mainly responsible.

The tanning tax was part of the Health Care Program passed by a straight party vote which means the Democrats are statistically responsible. The President (also a Democrat) could have vetoed the bill (or even the tanning tax specifically). Not sure about the racist element but the responsible Party for the tax is "statistically" proven.

That is only one of a lot os taxes sneaked into the Health bill. All gokd transactions will now be taxed too. Also some/many transactions over $600 will require a 1099 to be sent to the IRS and you.

It is a lot more that no one bothered to read it before they signed on.

If you vote for a candidate that voted for that horrible piece of legislation then shame on you.

Well, I guess if the original post simply claimed it was part of the grand socialist plot by the Democratic party as opposed to faulting a single individual on a race (albeit probably tongue in cheek) basis there would be little dispute.

How come so far no one is applauding the elimination of the estate tax?
Although time will tell if this remains or as most think is likely to be reimplemented in some fashion.

Hey, here's a thought, carry your ass outside for 15 minutes and get a tan for free! Sorry, couldn't resist some sarcasm, it's been that kind of day.:D

Here in Philadelphia they are trying to pass a soda tax, which from what I read will all but eliminate "free refills" since it will cut drastically into the retailers profits, that is unless they pass the cost along to the consumer.

The estate tax is automatically reinstituted with a $1 million exemption and a 55% rate after that on 1/1/2011. If your wash is worth $1mm and you die next year, your estate will owe 55% of everything else you own, in cash, within 9 months of your death. People better start paying attention.

Only time will tell if this doesn't change. In the meantime you can do some planning to avoid some or all of this. Spousal exemptions, family limited partnerships etc.

Wow, taxing a luxury that is proven to cause cancer. The next thing you know, they will tax cigarettes. I am all for sin taxes. Tax the crap out of alcohol, cigarettes, gambling establishments, tanning beds, and drugs. That is not to say that I don't drink, gamble and smoke, but I would rather the tax be higher on the people using items that cause increased health care expenses.

Spousal exemption is 100%. The current estate tax situation was created by the Republicans. They are the ones that passed the bill which included a sundown provision. Yes, the estate tax is horrible. If your NET ESTATE is more than 1 million and you do not leave anything to a spouse, then you will owe estate tax starting at 39.6% rapidly increasing to 55%. That can be avoided with estate planning.

If you are too lazy to avoid the estate tax, the government will take nearly 55% of your NET ESTATE over $1 million after 2010 unless the law is changed to correct the sundown provision passed by the Republicans.

I'm hoping to avoid the estate tax by voting out the democrats. The sundown provision was included as appeasement to the democrats. In my opinion the biggest mistakes that GWB made were efforts to appease those on the left.

Earl, I don't envy you man - defending this corrupt, incompetent worthless president is an uphill battle. You have a better chance of convincing people that Jeffery Daumer was just a creative chef.

Indiana, the problem with "sin tax" is that we have politicians deciding what is sin. It's not a far stretch at all to think that leftists will decide that profit is a sin. Oh wait, they already tax that. Too late!

Thankfully, those who still cling to the delusion that Obama is not the worst president in the history of this country, are outnumbered 5-1.

You know, back to the original topic: What would Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson say about a tax that only taxed black people? It would be the lead story on 3 networks. They all led with the Jet Blue story today so they didn't have to talk about the a$$ whoopin obama is likely to take at the polls today.
