$15 minimum wage?!!

Not a big issue. I pay $13.00/hr for help now for an autistic clean up guy at one wash now. He only works four hours a day though. One of the advantages of the SS/model is no one has to be there. I have a self prep station for customers. Express washes will probably raise prices(they are already trending up).

That’s just it. A national minimum wage is tougher for some places where it is still $8. But if you are in a place where it is currently $13 or $14, not a big deal. And chances are if you are on one of those places where the minimum wage is currently low- like $8 or $9, you aren’t at a $20+ ticket price either. This will be a bigger problem for some than others.

I think the minimum wage should be ZERO. But, if we are going to discuss the topic, a national minimum wage doesn't make much sense because of many variables. Cost of living is so much higher in the north than the south being the largest variable.
Having said that and trying desperately to stay on topic, I was asking about how much people, in this case Soonermajic, was paying employees that are an integral part of their business model. I'm not concerned with the minimum because I don't pay the minimum. The only reason I know that it is $13.50 in MA is because that it what my son makes at 15 years old as a ski instructor at the local mountain. I think he should be making closer to $10/hr for this work. The 15 year olds out in the parking lot directing traffic should be making about $6.

IMO best option is to raise your prices and explain to the people why. Most will understand and the rest of the idiots you can explain their vote has consequences

Isn't that the truth, who do think is going to be paying for these stimulus checks the government is handing out. The next generation of tax payers will be paying that bill off for ever.

What do you think will happen when there is an employee that worked for years to get to $15/hour (from the $8 min) and then the next person that is hired off the street is all of a sudden starting at $15? Uh boss? Um...I'm going to need a $7/hour raise. Like Randy and others have said everything will go up and nobody is getting ahead. (except the government)

So is your wash staffed 24/7 or do you not offer prepping after dark?

PA's minimum wage is $7.25/hr. We have a guy who works part time (5-10 hours a week) and we pay him $18/hour because he does a darn good job and we want to keep him.

HOWEVER, the minimum wage question is the exact reason we got out of the restaurant franchise business. With 100+ employees, that would have added up quick!

And you can explain to customers that you are raising your prices due to overhead increases until you are blue in the face - and they still will think that you're greedy. Most of the non-business world doesn't/can't understand.
