The 3/8” swivels on each end of my wand hoses tighten up over time. This only happens when running high pressure. They work fine under low pressure or no pressure. I’ve taken the swivels apart, cleaned out the dirt and put a little Vaseline on the o-ring and nylon washer. This worked for about a month till the swivel began getting stiff again. Anybody got any tricks to keep the swivels working freely.

I just replace them as they get tight.
My experience has been that some swivels start leaking as they wear out and other brands get tight. I prefer the ones that get tight because customers don't get wet. When they get tight I replace them. They aren't that expensive and last pretty long.

So far I like them. They're very smooth and swivel easily.
I'd been using JE Adams swivels, but they're way too stiff when new. I even took one apart, cleaned it thoroughly, put new seals in it and lubed it and now it leaks. Up to a couple years ago I was using a Sonic swivel at the boom and rebuilding them, but once they get bad enough to leak the bearings are ruined. Since they cost so much more, there's no money saved if they don't last through several rebuilds.

At the time of my original post they'd been in service a couple of days.
These swivels suck. I put them on both ends of the HP hose in one bay to try 'em out, the top one below a swivel saver. Barely a month in service and they're both so stiff that I'm just going to replace them. The gap in the one at the gun has gotten so wide already I'm concerned it's going to come apart on someone.
Over the years we’ve tried every High pressure swivel made. The best swivel we’ve found is this one http://www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-1549-fluid-controls-ball-bearing-swivel-38fxm-brass-2000psi.aspx They last the longest of all of them. We also have used them as a boom swivel.

We having been using those also for about 20 years & notch them every time we rebuild them. We rebuild them 2 or 3 times with a kit & then it seems no longer practical to rebuild them. We have new Mosmatic - Hydrospray booms I wonder if there is any issue using them on that specific boom. They have a 90 degree version of that same swivel that we also have had good luck with.

I have good luck with these also. You can put a 90 degree brass street elbow in them and use it as a boom swivel. I get years of use out of them. I don't bother to rebuild them.
