About a month ago we converted one of our washes to $5 to start for 10 minutes. This was a test to see how well it would be received. So far it has been very positive, no complaints, the customers we’ve talked to like the idea of putting in $5 and not have to swipe there credit card or put in any more money for 10 minutes. Most people are done and gone by the time the time the 10 minutes runs out. Saturday that car wash was packed so on Monday we’ll be converting another wash over to $5 start.

What if someone needs 1 or 2 minutes after the 10 minute cycle?

We use the 20 second Grace “restart” feature on the timer so you can add coins after it stop. We’ve got a .25 car wash about 2 miles or less from this wash, it’s not very often you see anyone there, it’s a loser, always has been. The guy who owns that wash figured that he could turn it around. He spent a whole bunch of money fixing it up, about $60K and it just sits there with no business so I don't think it's about price.

We give a 10% bonus in our SS bays for anyone using a $5 and a 20% for people using a $10. WE get a lot of $5 bills and even a few 10s.

I had some decals made up that are about the size of a business card that I mount right next to the bill slot. It has a bright yellow background with red letters. It explains the discounts availible.

I really like that idea I am going to look into it a little more... I am trying to pick up business some how some way...

I thought about adding a colored coin to my changer and give away an ipod or something when a Customer got the coin normally Monday thru Friday since the weekends are good
