I am in the process of changing prices at one of my washes. I have two autos, both with AC-8001 Paystations. On one of them, whenever I punch in the code I get the message "Action failed, cancel or try again". I have tried both default codes in the manual, but neither works. The other machine was no problem. I called American for technical service, only to be on hold for 15 minutes, just to get someone's voice mail. Couldn't I have gotten VM within the first 30 seconds? They have yet to call me back. Does anyone have any advice on how to get into the programming?

They will have to re-download your program. There is a procedure to dump all the memory. I think it is power it down, then insert a business card in the battery terminal. Take a wire and touch the cabinet to one of the bolts securing the circuit board. This will default all prices back to $10 when powered back up, but it will allow the machine to pick up when AC dials in. You want to have all your credit card records batched. So the only way to do this, it to tape off your credit card reader after your normal batch time. Because you will lose all information once you dump the memory.

Yeah, they got back with me this afternoon. It was pretty much like you said, with the exception of CC batching. It's been raining for two days, so if I lost anything, it wasn't much.
