Anyone added Cryptopay to a typical Blank Faceplate Vac?

Was thinking of trying a couple. Have some D&S Vacs. Since they already operate at 24V for the Timer the cost would be to switch to an LED 7 and Add the swiper.

Not sure if LED 7 will fit in existing housing, or if it would be convenient to add swiper to front. So;

1. Has anyone cut a rectangular opening in their blank SS Faceplates for a timer? Roto Zip / Moto Tool?
2. Anyone added the swiper to the side of the coin Box to make swiping easier?
3. Anyone added some sort of extra box for the timer and swiper and have a suggestion for a low cost option?

I recently cut an opening in a vac door for a Dixmor by using a drill press and a step-drill to make two holes that would serve as the width of the cutout, then connected the two holes with an angle grinder and a cutoff wheel. It went surprisingly fast and looks very clean. I'll try to remember to get a picture of it. I could order doors that accept the Dixmor but I figured it would have cost close to $400 for 8 doors and the drill press was only $129. Now I have a drill press and $270.

I've had the thought of having a stainless C-channel made to bolt to the side of the vac box for mounting a card swiper.

FWIW Laurel makes a "Sidecar of Stainless to accept a swiper.

Did you also drill 4 mounting holes for nuts and bolts or did you mount it some other way?

I drilled four holes and used socket cap screws through to mount it. I don't recall for sure, I might have tapped the holes and threaded the screws in just to make it easier to work on in the future.

I could clean it up and I'm sure it would look better but at the time I was just trying to get the vac working.

MEP001 that is a nice looking vac door. I like the way you notched the security bar around the coin drop, the fitted disk lock in front of the cash vault and the security bar around the disk lock on the side. Looks very secure.
Looks like you have room for a cc swipe too.

Why go with the more expensive LED7 instead of lesser cost alternatives and it's interesting that the display reads "wash"

I'm not sure if I understand the first part of the question, but the IDX timer had failed and I already had all the parts on hand to add a mercury relay and use spare Dixmor timers.

I timed the photo to catch the "wash" because it's the only word other than "to" that doesn't scroll.

A paraplate timer is about $80.00 and the Dixmor LED 7 is about $215.00. Of course using what you have explains the choice.
