airlift doors and problems with the building code

Hi everyone, does anyone have airlift doors or similar type doors on your in bay automatic? I got a call today from the city fire Marshall, someone complained to the city about our doors on the automatic and how would someone exit the bay if the doors fail. I met with the fire marshal and the building inspector and we are the wash in town with doors and we may not be up to code. I showed them the 3 safety features if the doors fail, an emergency pull cord on both doors, with a sign showingit, a control box with an oopen closed button, and airlift says a car can drive through the door and the door will reset it serve. Well they said that was not enough and we may need to install a door for an emergency exit. They will get to me since they never encounter this before. I think this is crazy any help on this will be greatly appricated.

They will come to their senses unless you upset the fire marshall. Appeal to the board if they aren't reasonable.

My airlift doors do not have the pull cord release you speak of. We have large lettering on the inside of both doors and an arrow pointing to the emergency open push buttons. The push panels are clearly labeled emergency exit. We do have an emergency exit (walk through) door as well. I'm surprised you don't have a walk through door, if for no other reason to enter the bay when the airlift doors are closed

the fire marshal was a nice guy, i didnt give me a problem. he said he was going to check with the fire marshals from other areas about the doors, i hoping he works with us on it. thanks

Hey Chaz, we have a control panel in our engine room, we open the door from inside the engine room and use the control panel inside the bay to close the door. We have a bright orange sign next to the pull cord that says emergency pull cord exit and the open close buttons are next to that. We have the alaska extreme doors
