angled SS wand tip

I visited a self serve yesterday that had the tip (last two inches or so) of the wand bent at a 45 degree angle. I have not seen this before and wondered what the advantage was - the owner was not around, so I could not ask.

I did notice that it created more back pressure and stress to hold the wand in the proper position - you almost would need to keep one hand on the wand if you were going to be using it for any length of time. I also noticed it did make the angle you hold your hand and wrist at more natural when washing the horizontal surfaces of the hood and roof. This was the case on all six bays, so it was not a fluke or vandalism to the wand I was using - it was a clean bend - no crimping.

Does anyone know the reason for this?

WOW....Mine are straight and sometimes if I'm not holding on to the handle tight, it kicks back on me! Usually towards my face! How much pressure was he running? I can't see this as a good thing. Never seen it before....

I bought a wash that the previous owner did exactly what cantbreak80 said. It seems a bit dangerous to me. He also had 3/8 hose down to the wand with NO swivels. That washing experience was a nightmare---very uncomfortable to wash a vehicle. But he thought it made the customer feel like the hose had super pressure with this set up, because you could barely hold on to it.

The wands frequently included a metal tab near the tip end to prevent the wand from flying out of the wand holder. The bend forced the wand up so the tab would catch the end of the holder. This was before trigger guns were introduced…and when meter boxes used toggle switches to select soap/wax.

Yes - thank you all for chiming in. I wish the owner was there so I could see what he had in the equipment room and the psi he was running.

I've been told the same thing that the bent wand end makes it feel like more pressure. About half the washes in San Antonio Texas have the same green coated wands with the last few inches bent down.
