Attaching signs to split face block

I made the mistake (in my opinion) of building my auto cashier pedestal out of split face (rough surface) concrete block. It is difficult to attach signs to because of the uneven surface. Has anyone found a slick way to attach signs to spit face block?

Usaully I make my signs out of a little bit thicker alluminum. I use plastic screw anchors then use stainless screws of different lenghts. For any gaps in the block take clear poly tubing and cut to alittle longer than the gap that they will fill. Put the screws through the sign then the tubing. This way when you tighten down the screws you can get the signs nice and flat. I have gapped up to about a 1"1/2 like this.

I used some strips of aluminum, heavy enough that I can sountersink the screw heads into the strip and tighten them lightly and not have it bend, then use double-stick tape to hold the sign to the aluminum strip. You can more easily adjust the screw holes so they land in mortar to make it easy to fill in the holes later if needed.

You can use washers or spacers found at Home Depot around pushins/hammerpin anchors to hold the sign slightly off the wall.

Ric,

If it is a 28 x 44 sign use a windmaster frame. Bolt that to the block then snap the signs in and out.

Buy 3/8" stainless 3"" long RAMSET By REDHEAD bolts. Drill 3/8 hole 1 1/2" deep. Drive in bolt. Put on washer and tighten on nut until new bolt is set tight. Use remaining treads to mount new sign using a backer nut to hold out from rock and put on third nut to hold sign. Another twist --use same bolts to mount a plexiglas sign with lettering on it to show off rock.Bolts are at menards and fastenal-
