Bad reviews/entitled customers

People think when they put a couple bucks in the bay they own it and can do what they want.
When I am there when someone is doing something like this, I try to educate them and tell them they are shutting down part of my business and the grass / mud / mulch does not go down the drain.
some get, most don't. Part of the business.

I get bad reviews and always respond. For some reason when I ask specific questions about their issue they never respond. Recently got a 5 star and a 1 star on the same day.

Someone years ago posted that he would scoop up all the mud and dump it in the customers driveway.
I think he got their license plate number from the cameras.
MEP probably remembers this better than me.
It‘s not going to stop. l just explain to them the rules and show them the cameras and signs that says no Muuders and a fine of $300 plus pit cleaning cost.
Does it help yes. To want extent I’m not sure.
In 44 years I’m still cleaning mud.

that was Google translating the voicemail he left. Once I called him back he apologized and realized it wasn't my fault, but damn.

I'm waiting for my bad review. After spending more than seven minutes prepping I informed an unlimited express customer that it will be necessary to rinse of the heavy mud in one of our bays before coming into the automatic. His response: "Do I have to pay? How much is too much mud? That's why I joined the unlimited." And his cost/wash is less than $5! Not an isolated incident as he had dirt driveway and travels dirt roads to get to it.

That is great lol. I’ve taken household trash bags and taken it back to peoples house and dropped it in their front yard

LOL, I have also "returned trash" to people's houses. Backed my truck up to their front yards and tossed multiple bags in the yard with the neighbors watching.

I don't remember that one, but I do remember a story from here about a trash dumper. The car wash owner dug through and found several pieces of mail with a name and address, so he called the police. The cop went to the guy's house who told the cop the trash was stolen, so the cop couldn't do anything. So the wash owner left the bags in the guy's yard, which ended up getting spread all over his yard by dogs. The guy called police on the wash owner who told the cop "Yeah, I left it on his lawn, I was just returning his stolen property." The cop chuckled and said "Have a nice day."

We have anti dumping signs and cameras everywhere so we have taken trash back to the owners house in the past.
Two weeks ago our 4 (110gal) trash bins were filled & overflowing in 1.5 days (trash is collected twice a week!) so we removed the bins to wake up the people to the abuse issue. We still had a few bad actors leave their kitchen bags on the property next to vacs so we turned the video over to DNR police who issued tickets to the offenders.
Contemplating removing the bins permanently as it would save us $$, but do feel that normal car wash usage should include the ability to toss small items found in a car. For now we are binless as the experiment continues.

I have had the opinion in the past that Trash Removel is just a normal part of business when you have a car wash and that I would always leave the trash cans out. However in the past year or so I have had such a big problem with people dumping excess garbage that I have been removing The trashcan from the vacuum island periodically.

For me I got to the point that my locked 8-yard dumpster was being filled almost every week. Mostly by "neighbors" that didn't want to pay for trash removal. When someone actually called the police and complained that my trash cans were full, and they couldn't dump their trash I had had enough. (Police called me and told me this laughing). I put locking lids on my cans with a 6" hole in the middle about three years ago and posted the attached signs. Pretty quicky the trash dropped. I now have a 6-yard container emptied bimonthly, and I can't remember the last time it was nearly full. I should drop to a 4-yard bimonthly.
