Belt Drive Removal

Looking for some help to get the belt drive (the disc, the thing that the belt runs on) off the shaft of the motor.

I attached pictures below (and don't ask me about the condition of the motor ... I blame previous owner).

I have a new motor and I need to get the belt piece off and ideally moved over to the new motor. I removed the two screws on top, but still nothing really moves. Perhaps rusted on? Should I just buy a new one?

Any help, as always, much appreciated.

Screw the bolts you removed into the unused threaded holes in the disc. They will go all the way through and push the sheave off of the hub. The threads could be rusty, so you may want to run a tap through the holes to cleans the threads first.

Trinity, get on YouTube and search taperlock hub and pulley removal and assembly. I am guessing a video will help you greatly.

Do what Pat has said and run a tap into the holes, you don't want to strip out the treads in the hub. Before you try pushing the sheave off hub spray the hub with Kroil or PB Blaster. When you use the bolts to remove sheave from the hub alternate from one side to the other as you push it off. Once you get the sheave loose off the hub you might have to use a puller to get the hub off the motor shaft.

Thanks guys. Was able to do exactly as you said ...

- First WD40'ed the heck out of the old motor.
- Let it sit for 4 hours.
- Inserted the screws and gently had them go through.
- Pushed the disc back and released the sheave.

Only thing I am stuck on now is getting the little shank off of the motor (the tab) so I can use it in the new one.

Progress! But thank you.

If your taking about the key way then just use a flat head screwdriver with a hammer and it will come right out. Everything everyone above said is spot on. Running the tap is the most important along with some WD40. Glad you got it off without any problems. I will add for future that instead of using the existing bolts to separate the taper lock from the pulley to buy brand new grade 8 bolts and use those.
