I have a coinco and i hate it more than anything in the world. Pain in the ass and it doesn't work well ever the acceptance rate i bet is close to 3-5%. I have a Mei and is pretty great so far. I need one for my changer and one for my hamilton acw-4? Any suggestions or preferences and also how do the bill acceptor cleaners do? does the alcohol affect the belts after a while and how often do you clean the changers? THANKS

Nick,

We have the newer more water resistant Coinco Vantages --- so far so good --- they are a little over a year old. We just use warm water on a clean rag to clean them so far. I suppose if the usage became way more --- it could be a factor though. I also have some MEI 2612s too that are good.

I switched to Mars in the changers and auto-cashier more than five years ago. Both acceptors in the changer have been completely trouble-free. They're under a canopy and don't get any direct sun or rain. The one I first put in the auto-cashier started giving trouble after about four years. It never completely quit, just wouldn't take bills easily. It gets 6 hours of direct sun all summer and usually sees 20-25 days a year over 100°. I don't know how they handle cold below 20°.

I know the older CoinCo models could get pretty bad - I have no experience with the newer ones. Someone tried to sell me a "more water-resistant" CoinCo to use in the bays, but as well as the Mars have been working I didn't want to try something else.

It would be great to hear from a vendor who sold multiple brands to get a proper evaluation on this.

I've never had any real problems with Mars acceptors. I'm also very happy with the new Vantage acceptors I have.

I have two ICT. Changed over from another brand I can't remember and I also have a Mei. I love the ICT. Cheap and reliable but don't like water so much. I wouldn't put them in the bays. However, on the changer or autocashier it's a breeze. Never misses a beat.

Have the Coinco vantage am I happy. A few minor issues. Several fixed under warranty.

I have seperate bill acceptor boxes mounted next to my regular metr boxes since the retrofit and security for the D&S boxes did not lend itelf well to adding the acceptor in that box. Got mine from Etowah valley and I think they sell more than on brand. They reccomended the Vantage. I was impressed at the show a couple of years ago when the Coinco guy had a water bottle and was squirting water right into the acceptor. It would then suck the bill in and out a couple of times to dry itself out. In short order I have gone to 50% bills and 50% quarters. The bay percentage is really greater since I include in the 50% vac / vending revenue in the breakdown and my vacs don't take bills - yet.
