Is there anyone close to Texas with ring-o-matic clamshell / bucket style unit for sale? The 500T type unit will probably work for our needs. Feel free to message me with details. Thanks!

I’m a new member and don’t really know how the forum works but I just wanted to say that I bought a model 1400 Vermeer vacuum and a crust buster to use to empty pits as I have a host of pits to deal with. It does a fantastic job can empty a pit 40 in wide 40 in deep 72 in long in about 15-20 min

I have a Ring ) Matic clamb shell I feel is pretty easy. After seeing what the Crust Buster is and imagining that coupled with a factor style machine, I'm starting to rethink.
What does everyone feel is the easiest and fastest method? Has anyone ever had/done both ?

I used a ringomatic vacuum machine for 25 years and it did a good job. It is very handy on the small pits. Now that I have a tractor with pit bucket I would never go back. The ringomatic would not pick up the heavy black sind I get and it would tend to build up over time requiring we use a tackhoe to lift the black sand up. Now we can clean the pits quicker and more complete. I still have the ringomatic but only use it for the small secondary pits.

I've seen a crustbuster in action with a small ringomatic and it did the trick but was kinda slow pumping. The crustbuster mixed the sludge in the pit and allowed the pumper to pick up everything without adding water.
Does anyone have a suttner sludge sucker device? They're about $125. I bought one to play with. Last week I used it to remove water off the top of sludge prior to pump out and it worked great. I tested the volume and it performs as advertised. It was five feet down in the tank and managed to fill a five gallon bucket with muddy water in around eight seconds. That works out to almost 40 GPM. Again this was hooked up to a 1200 psi SS bay hose. It might be a good accessory to have on hand. I have not tested it for removal of heavy solids. I bought mine from CWSS and it had a 6.0 orifice

I've used one. I used it to transfer the fine silt out of the secondary trap back into one of the bay pits so it could settle out to be shoveled. It works great for that, and it will move heavy mud but it takes a lot of water to agitate it. I think the crustbuster thing might be enough to let the sludge sucker work with heavy mud without adding much water.

We have used a vermeer 800t vac truck if my brothers. It’s much less work to use the clamshell ringomatic.
