I have Ultimate heaters hanging in my IBA's and one of them developed a hole in the long tube. I was wondering what the best way to patch it is? Could I use something like muffler tape? The hole is about 1"x 2".
My advice FWIW: Replace the tube. Chances are there are other sections of the tube ready to give way also. I've seen some tubes with the flame shooting out of the rusted holes. This of course is a fire and carbon monoxide hazard. I have not seen a radiant tube with a patch on it but there is always a first. Be safe rather than sorry. Good luck.
The rest of the pipe is actually in decent shape. This hole is right under where the ceiling bracket was seated and it has a hole just where the bracket touches. Bracket was moved so maybe it wasn't tight and was rubbing on that spot.
Idk what is safe or smart, but JB weld makes a high temp "epoxy". Or maybe try an exhaust manifold repair kit, I think those are high temp and easy to use too.
