This may be a stupid question but I'm going to ask anyway. We have bill acceptors in the bays, newest Coinco VL-1213-3E and one of them doesn't work. We took it out and had it cleaned and it worked for a day. I'd like to replace it with a Mars but not sure which one to purchase. We need a spare anyway. The Coinco is 24v, will I have to change the harness? Thanks in advance.

we replaced all coinco with mars, very simple 2612 , 2712 unit plug and play, units that come with 24 volt, wire harness exact change over , if your buying a new unit get the 1,5,10, 20 $ units, pays off in the long run

The Coinco 24 volt Vantage validator was such a good validator that Coinco discontinued it about a year or so ago. A Mars AE2412U3 or an AE2612U3 should work as a replacement, the AE2612 will accept $1’s - $20’s. The problem is the location of the slot on the bezel for the bill to enter the validator, every manufacture is different. When you install a Mars AE2412 validator the slot in the bezel for the bill may or may not lineup with the slot in the coin box face plate, that’s the problem. Outside the carwash industry manufactures have the whole 3 x 4 bezel sticking out the hole. The wiring should be the same unless the coin box manufacture cut off the white plug from the validator and hard wired the validator harness, then might have to rewire the validator harness to the coin box. A AE2712 would work in a coin box, its MDB only. My suggestion would be to get your hands on a Compact Bezel and see if it'll fit on your validator coin box mounting studs.

Why not just drop or send it to Coinco in St. Louis to get it fixed.

Thanks everybody. I do intend to get it repaired and use as a back up. Randy, I'll check into those Mars units. Thanks!
