I was wondering if any of you have notice changes in the products since there was an ownership change? I am going through product at a faster pace than before and I was just hit with a price increase. Have all of you guys had a price increase or was it just my distributor?

One product I bought from Blendco went from $140 for 5 gallons to $210. I had to switch over to a different product they have. So far the new product is working at a similar price to what I was using before.

I have been migrating away from blendco for the same reasons. The Automatic sufactant is now too thin and it uses too much for the price. I am using several products from kleen-rite Super Clean line the tire and wheel cleaner, the foam brush, and powder is better than blendco for 1/2 the price. Another case of greed in the power management.

dclark,
These are the same things I am seeing and not liking it. I am going to be fading Blendco out. We have 6 car washes doing 30K plus with BLENDFLO. They are about to lose it!!!! NOT HAPPY BLENDCO. YOU ARE HEADING DOWN THE WRONG PATH. YOUR CUSTOMER ARE NOT AS STUPID AS YOU MUST THINK.

I wonder why they have 2 products one at $210, and one at $140 , That work identical. It seems like the only difference is price for owners that challenge price. i ran into that also and got different chems. It sure would be nice to have a buyers group. we all pay different prices for the same chems. We are so limited in our final price.

The $140 product is the same product but they raised the price overnight to $210.

A buyers group representing many owners united for strong purchasing power should work. It works in the grocery industry, auto parts industry, clothing industry, an in most situations where purchasing power and large volume purchasing matters. That covers almost all business products and is leveraged well by more coordinated groups. I like that idea.

Last year many chemical mfgs raised prices, citing petroleum-based raw material prices going up. Now that oli is 50% off last years peaks, are any mfgs going back down on prices yet?

cfcw,
Great point. I want a price decrease not increase! Oil is at $59 a barrel, not $150.

The lower oil costs just means there is now mobility in price for these chemical manufacturers. The best way to get them to lower thier price is to let your feet do the talking.

Once they start to notice thier sales drop due to people shopping elsewhere they will start to lower thier prices, and have more "specials" to drive volumes back up. I mean, Just look at almost every other industry right now, including our own.

lower pricing

What Bighead has stated is very true. Let your feet do the talking. I too am very disappointed in the pricing of all soap. These soap manufactures all sited high oil prices last year and the year before. It is a fact that oil has dropped dramatically and where is the lower soap pricing???? I'm ****ed. If prices of soap don't drop soon with the major soap dealers then most of us will probably looking at no name soaps for relief.

Blendco Products

I do not know why but my Blendco Products have stopped cleaning cars. I have used them for 4 years without to many issues but now they are not doing the job. I had my distributor down and they spent a day testing and adjusting everything they could. I am currently waiting for a rep from Blendco to come down. What is happening is that the cars have white streaks on them? Is anybody having problems with their products. My sales are down about 25% because of dissatisfied customers. I am going to have to change to a different chemical line but I am not sure which brand to use. I am not real knowledgeable about the testing of chemicals and have to relay on my distributor for all the chemical testing. Any brands that would be easier to use. It seems Blendco is very complicated with using the Super Sat system and tip sizes etc. Any suggestions on chemicals that are good and very easy to use that a person without a lot of chemical knowledge could keep adjusted. I need clean cars to keep my customers.

It seems there are alot of unhappy BLENDCO customers of late. I think we should all switch to the Kleen Rite Super Kleen Blending System. Heard it works as good as the old BLENDCO and is half the price. BLENDCO ARE YOU LISTENING!!!!! WAKE UP!!! DUBOIS CHEMICALS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

Diycarwash and others-This is Brent McCurdy former co-owner of Blendco Systems and current co-President of Blendco. We have not changed any of the formulations since the takeover by DuBois so any sense that products aren't cleaning as well are simply not based on a formulation change. All car wash chemicals can seem to clean better or worse depending on the time of year and the soils that are present. This doesn't mean you don't have a specific problem. Please keep in mind the littlest thing like not having soft water or a pinched line can often be the real culprit of cleaning issues. As BLHCW18 suggested- I would recommend having your Blendco Regional Manager get involved to dial in for results.

DuBois did not change the formulations

I want to respond to some of the issues brought forward on this posting. First of all DuBois has not made a single change in formulations since acquiring Blendco. In fact we have been very careful NOT to change a thing for just the reasons being suggested. This includes that we have had no overall price increases either- any price movement you have seen is the result of distributors catching up on any previous price increases. The other possibility is that some times a specific product can take a large increase due to raw material costs that affect a single product or a small group of products.

Brent,
What you are saying about the Kleen-Rite system is what we are now seeing in your product Pre Soak 2000. It looks thinner. It doesn't last as long as it use to. You can say what you want, but my wallet tell me differently! Our distrubutor raised our price $24 per 6 gallons and it is lasting about half as long. I have been with Blendco now for 3 years and very happy until recently.

Brent,
I know I have been very hard on Blendco on the autocare forum over the last few days. It is because I am very passionate about my business and Blendco products. We have been using your products for 3 years. My buddy and I have 6 locations in the Houston market. We do alot of business with Blendco and have been very happy until recently. We mark our soaps with a date everytime we put them out. We have a records of how long they last. They are not lasting as long as before and seem thinner.

Brent: Which is it no price increase OR specific product or group of products can take a large increase? A little double talk here.HUH
IF you have not changed the formula, have you watered it down or changed your suppliers or have your suppliers changed who they get the raw products from? DO you really know? Surely your QC people know the viscosity has changed. ALL of US KNOW WITH out a doubt. Some of us have been users for over 12 years. Why don't you get someone in the company to do some checking since you obviously are speaking off the cuff from behind a desk.

Regarding the Kleenrite product that someone suggested is just as good at a much lower price- this seems like such an easy solution- but the fact is that their products are superthin- and at the same tip settings use 3 times as much. And further, you are not allowed to use Kleenrite products in a SuperSat system- or we will simply take back the system- why provide a system to use someone elses product? But guess what? The best value is to buy regular SuperSat and not buy a thinner product and its just like buying a soda syrup- its more per gallon but a little goes a long way.

Yes I did have to tip my tips back a lot but i STILL got a better working product for less money. I write the date and the counts on my buckets. As I stated in my earlier post get a barrel mixer and 2 barrels then we do not need the blendco sorta kinda inconsistent mixer.
