Boiler high limit tripping

You don't need a Taco motor. Look at the specs on it.

If memory serves me correctly, my similar setup used a 1/4HP Emerson motor. I picked up a New (old stock) one on eBay for less than $100. It's been on the shelf as a spare for 5 years. Some timely shopping...and you'll be able to pick one up cheap also.

I do the same thing, for example I got a spare bay motor for $125 shipping included, new in box from back when Baldor were still good.

I did look into buying a motor on Ebay and found a few new ones that looked like they would work for around $100. If we end up keeping this hot water setup I'll buy a spare. This one is still kicking with my shaft end play shims made out of some decals. It seems obvious that the real problem was that the start winding contacts were not engaging. It troubles me that the motor shop said the bearings are bad because they are a highly regarded shop around here. They have been in business for over 70 years, are always really busy and have 28 five star Google reviews/ratings.

There in business to make money. If they can BS you into replacing the bearing that might be questionable and put a couple of shims in the back of the motor then they’ve gotten a little work. We take very little stock in any of the reviews on Yelp or any of the other rating web sites. They are mostly Bull $hit. There’s a 5 star rated carwash here that is a total joke, he has his employees leave positive reviews all the time and they’ll leave negative reviews for the other car washes that they’ve never been to.
