A great day for washing here in Pittsburgh unfortunately one of my Auto Bays went down and is still down. I first noticed the ECC had a error that said "Boom Did Not Come Down". I opened up the gantry and saw that the far right drive did not have any lights on and display was out. I checked all the fuses, they were good. I replaced the drive and programmed it to the parameters in the WW 1.0 manual. The boom arm still will not go up and down. I am assuming it is the motor or the gear box but i am curious as to why the drive went blank as though it did not have power. When I had motor go bad in the past I would usually get an "OL" or overload error this time the drive seem to shut off. Do you think I am going down the right path for the trouble shooting? The is the first time I had this error in 7 years and I am somewhat befuddled from it. Lastly, I am not that great at reading wiring schematics. Does anyone know where I might check to see if voltage is going to the motor on the drive? Thanks in advance for your help. Happy New Year!

Buzzie,
I would check to make sure you have voltage coming into the drive before go changing things, you should have power coming in at the top of the drive.
Also check wiring connections at bottom of drive to terminal blocks.

Should be careful before I hit the "post" button. It does sound like your motor. or the wire going to it since the VFD is acting up. Do you have a megger to check the motor?

OK... now this is getting really weird. This morning I was going to start taking the motor off to replace it. Then I remembered that I never reset the wash at the ECC once I got the new drive installed and programmed. After I hit the reset, the boom started going up and down with no problems. I thought that everything was OK.. later when I walked into the equipment room I noticed the LED display on the ECC flashing on and off with nothing on the display. I looked in the cabinet and saw that none of the normal input lights were lit and that the power light on the CPU, the Omron S8VS, and the RS232 were slowly flashing. Part of my whole problem through this was that my voltage meter was at my other wash so I was unable to make some necessary tests (shame on me). I have it now and I am reviewing the schematics to find out where my problem lies. I am assuming the Omron S8VS is the power supply for the 24V DC that goes to the CPU, correct? My next step is to check the voltages from the transformer and on the terminal strips. Maybe my boom error and this problem are unrelated. Not sure? SMH (scratching my head)
