Boom size for Wide Bays...

Twodose

Active member
I have a 7 bay wash. 5 bays are 15ft. wide.

The 6th bay is 19ft-10" wide.

The 7th bay is 17ft-10" wide.

Doing a remodel and I am going to use the Mosmatic (DKZ) booms in Bays 1-5.

Not sure but I am thinking about using there dual booms (DDP) in the wider bays.

All the bays are only 8' high so I won't be washing anything big like campers or larger trucks.

Question is what would be a good length boom to use in the wider Bays?

If you go to www.mosmatic.com you can look up the catalog page that has suggested boom lengths for you bays, or for your application they would be the 65.039 5'9" booms.

Personnally I would look at the DKZ style booms for all of your bays

The 5'-9" are for only up to 17 ' bays. I have the mos catalog and have looked on the website.

I wanted to see if anyone has booms in a bay this wide and what length.

Thanks

Seems to me that the lenght of the booms would be proportional to the width of the vehicles you are washing. If you are washing passenger cars and light trucks, then why use booms that are more expensive? You may also find that shipping an oversized boom can be an issue.

Your right, the cars or trucks are not going to be any wider, the problem is the extra hose needed so the wand and brush can reach the wall to hang them, you end up dragging more hose around than is needed, it is a little awkward for the customer.

I don't think is would matter much in the 17'-10" bay, would only be adding 10" of unnecessary hose.

I the 19'-10" bay it would be and extra 1.5 ft of hose.

It is a little cumbersome in the wider bay.

Mosmatic is the one that suggested putting the double booms in the wider bays.

Just trying to get some different opinions. Thanks for yours. :D
