Buyers Parts Guide for JC Parts

It's been a while since I've been to this forum. On the old AutoCareForum, I started a thread to find out where we could find alternative parts suppliers for JC parts that were not proprietary. It proved to provide some good information. One post I was hoping that I could revisit was an alternative to buy the tie rod ends on the oscillating arms for a Water Wizard 1.0, I have been using the plastic based on a recomendation that they will not hurt the motor if they go bad but it seems like they go bad much quicker than the metal tie rod ends. Any thoughts on this? Also, if you know some place better to buy these than JC or their distributors let me know. We should really start another parts thread for these type items.

I assume you mean the rod ends, commonly known as "heim ends". If you do an internet search for rod ends or heim ends you will find a lot of suppliers. I have a 2.0 & I bought replacements from Applied Industrial Technologies(www.applied.com). They have a BIG selection of rod ends and you need to know what you need. You need to measure the thread (mine are 7/16 x 20 female) and the bore of the hole. There are a lot of different types of material and corresponding prices. I bought some that were non-relubricatable and some were regreasable. I am trying both at the same time to see which last longer. I used a digital vermier caliper to measure the diameter of the rods, and a thread guage (sears has them) to measure the thread count. You need to determine whether they are metric or US. Mine were US threads. I paid between $13 and $22 each. Incidently I never knew that plastic was even an option. Hope this helps.

Another thought - to measure the threads (usually fine thread) you could go to the hardware store and buy some different sized nuts and try them putting them on the end of the rod once you have removed the rod end. Whichever you can put on without forcing it would be correct.

I hav e been buying mine at the local NAPA store, carry one of the old ones and they can match it with there item.

Any bearing store will have them. I think they are 5/8's but I can't remember off hand. Take an old one to a bearing store and they should be able to match. The second set I got were all metal, no plastic in the swivel. Not sure it they will last longer or not that way.

Get a Grainger catalog it is full of items that you will need at a good price. This is where I buy my Heims and other bearings, motors and fittings.
I have ordered the button for my vacs and shampooers from OTTO that manufactures them. I had to order 50 of each to get an order so if you are in need of these please contact me.
I am still trying to find a good place to get the push lok hose in the various colors to do a complete PM.
I got a machine shop to make the rollers that go on the track which saved about $70 each plus shipping.

McMaster-Carr supply has them for less than $10. I use the self-lubricating.

I just put 28 tie rod ends on my two WW 1.0's. Bought them at NAPA part#732-1128 paid around $7 each for them. Seem to be working fine. I am not sure if they are self lubricating or not. They do not have grease fittings though!
