Called it quits.

All the old guys here keep disappearing! Happy for you Earl.
Is this retirement or are you continuing with your other endeavors?

Enjoy! Thanks for everything. Let us know what retirement is like ( besides having to pay to wash your own car).
So, far it's only retirement from the Wash / Gas / Sno Plow Bus. Huge life Changes -

No longer having to carry repair tools, supplies and keys in my car.
2 Days off a week instead of none, cell phone doesn't ring with Employee, Customer and equipment problems,
Actually deleted home land line and answering machine used mostly for Burglar alarm calls.
Looking at the sky and not caring if it is cloudy or rainy that day.
Not getting up every hour to check snow accumulations to see when I needed to send drivers out.
No invoicing or monthly sales tax returns.
No Checking daily Gasoline wholesale prices, , monitoring Inventory levels, as well as competitor pricing.

Congratulations Earl. With all those years you have forgotten more than most know. Thank you for your info and participation on the forum. I hope this isnt bad manners but can I ask what did you do with the money and how did you replace the income ? Im looking for ideas. shoot me a pm if you dont wanna go public.

Congratulations Earl on your well-deserved semi-retirement! I have enjoyed your feedback on this Forum and hope it continues. You have acquired much knowledge in 37 years, and grateful that you've been willing to share with us. Slow down, relax and enjoy the slower pace of life. 🥰

Hi Getnbusy, you ask a GREAT question! After running my car wash for 21 years, I sold it 4 months ago. I have invested well in mutual funds, bonds and CDs. Diversifying is key. My home is paid off and I live within my means. I manage my own money to save on management fees. To replace my income, I'm now researching Fixed Income Annuities and MYGAs. It's like having a pension that pays me every month. Send me a PM if you want to discuss further. Planning ahead for retirement is key! :)

Couple items to consider. 1. Triple net property. Depreciation write offs can provide big tax benefits. . US T-Bills if you have a state income tax since they are not subject to state income tax.
