I noticed a little chalking on my gray truck after going through my automatic. I reuse my reject water for HP rinsing followed by SP rinse. I checked the hardness of my water and it was at 3 grains. I then checked it on my HP rinse tank that was full of reject water and it was 9. Can someone explain this to me? Makes me wonder if I should quit using my reject water and rinse with softened city water only.

try a bigger sampling of cars thru the wash before you go making changes.
does something in your r.o. need replacing, like the filter membrane?
maybe drain your reject tank down and clean it out real good and start over.
you could install a filter for reject. you could reduce the amount of reject for rinse and use more city water.

Check your spot free rinse water first to make sure a check valve is not letting water back into the tank. Your spot free rinse should take care of any chalking or residual hard water.

Make sure you have not plumbed your softener drain lines into the reject tank. Check your reject with TDS meter.
