Car dealership automatics

Stopped by another new car dealer that opened. They have the same piece of cow excrement that all of the others do. That would be a Broadway machine with that idiotic mitter thingy. EVERY car dealer with these things have to hand wash the car before it goes in because the machine can not clean it. My sales career is about over, but it just drives me crazy that these people spend many millions of dollars on a new place and put in a machine that was designed when Carter was president.

I’m with you Mac. I’m guessing there is not the research done when the owner of a dealership buys an IBA compared to a commercial wash owner. The dealership does not have to rely on it to generate any income, be competitive with any other washes and probably does not have to worry about taxing the throughput either. Also - there will probably be and employee around 100% of the time it is used to prep/re-clean or touch up anything missed.
They also don’t have to provide a wash quality finish worth $15 or $16.

The companies that make these machines have not had to advance technologies because they don’t have to keep up with the advancements in the commercial systems and it costs money to do that. Dealership owners are not car wash owners and probably don’t have the expectations from their equipment and are probably also not aware what can be done by a quality machine. And if they are, they know it comes at a bigger price
Distributors of these machines will probably tout their simplicity, ease of maintenance and low cost to operate and purchase, knowing they don’t have to approach tunnel quality finishes like the top machines are capable of doing.

These machines exist because there still is the supply and demand.

These things are being bought solely because they are the only machine listed in the dealers supply catalogue. This is where they buy all of their shop equipment. The people who publish it will not even talk tp anyone else. My bet is because they get part of the sale. And Broadway doesn’t really have distributors. They have companies they work with to install and service. That’s it. The distributor gets a small sum to install but nothing from the sale. The whole thing stinks. And the machine is junk.

I love the fact that new car dealers have such terrible automatics! It creates alot of buffing work for our detail shop and makes our IBA look great!

I have been to dealers in south FL where there was actual mold growing on the mitter. And not just a little mold. We are talking about a really bad science project thingy.

There’s a ford dealer near me that has a n/s lammscloth tunnel open to the public. Competition is an express exterior one mile away in one direction and a flex serve 2 miles in the other direction. Also assorted Laser washes not to far away either. I don’t ever see much going on in that dealer wash and what I do see is probably service customers who aren’t paying.

A dealership near me opened a short tunnel. I've seen them advertising that if you buy a car from them you get free washes for x amount of years...

That N/S lamnscloth is one of the biggest jokes in the industry. It is pure cow excrement. When it is installed you get tremendous amounts of fuzz everywhere. It clogs up everything.

Must be why that is the only one I have ever seen in person.
