Carwash blower philosophy, questions from a new wash owner.

Hi everyone, I'm purchasing a 3/1 ss/iba. The iba does not have a blow dryer. I'm kinda lost in a sea of options. How much do I want to spend? What do customers expect from my dryer? Do I want to make sure the windshield is dry or the entire car? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but it has merit. I see some dryers have 30 different nozzles and some have 3. On one hand, I don't want to short-change my customers on the other I don't want to spend $50k on the mega super dryer when the $20k basic dryer will provide what my customers expect. I'm hoping one of you carwash iba dryer Jedi's can guide me to the right dryer for my operation.

You want to install a free standing dryer arch at the exit end of your wash. The unt should have 3 producers. 1 on each side and one on top that oscillates. The producers on the sides have 10 hp motors and the producer on the top has a 15 hp motor and then a smaller motor next to it that runs the oscillating part. You can get this type of set up from a company called the dryer pros. You also need a freestanding display timer on a pedestal so that the customer can time them selves through the dryer arch. They expect the dryer to get the car dry But it's unrealistic to think that it's going to leave no water drips.

Waxman said it perfect. I have the same setup. And give 65 seconds. Some people use the full 65 and some run right through it. I give the dry on all washes even my cheapest one ($8.00) customers expect this in my opinion. It really doesn't cost that much to run them, they are three phase motors, which helps.

I agree. I have Superior Dryers at all my locations. Of course Superior doesn’t exist anymore, but has been reborn as Dryer Pros. Same owner, same somewhat improved dryers. Great dryers at a great price. If you can though, go with 15hp all around and do oscillation on all three. I have some with oscillation on just the top and some units on all three. My full oscillation ones dry better. Use a high quality drying agent and keep up on your R/O water quality and this should be all you need.

AZcarwashman are using them in tunnel or IBA washes?
Do you use more than one arch in any of your washes?

I have Mark VII IBA’s. All are single arch 1 top mounted two side mounted dryers.

Thanks for the advice, I guess that I was having dryer envy seeing washes with multiple spouts. If you guys are telling me a 3 stack 15hp is what I need then that's what I'll buy.

Yep, 1 on top & 1 on each side, all 15hp, is what I got. Works VERY good, w/ correct chemistry
