CAT 5CP No Pressure

There seem to be a few factors that affect head washout. The last wash I ran had the heads start to wash out in the center high pressure seal area after two years. I replumbed them so the water wouldn't change direction when the trigger was pulled and released, and it was fine after that. My current wash is the exact same setup and still plumbed the way the other one was, but it's 20 years old and none of the manifolds have been replaced. The same soap was used at both for the first few years.

Kleen-Rite resleeves all nine ports for $190. Turn around for me has been about 3 weeks or less. I stopped redeeming the one time warranty on the 5 cps because the replacement would always wash out around 2 years. At this point, every 5 cp and several 310s have been resleeved by KR.

I just did have the valve seats on a resleeved 310 wash out. It was done in 2004. Sent it in to be resleeved again.

I can guarantee that's not a head problem. That's got to be either air entering the system or something stopping the water flow, unless it's the least likely thing I mentioned which is the rod end caps have loosened up. If you take the head off again, push/pull on the plungers to make sure they aren't loose.

UPDATE.....

I took the washed out head back to my shop to take caps off before sending it off to get resleeved and I did find the center valve on the inlet ports was broken in half.

The bottom half is stuck down in the port sealing it shut I think this is why the pump sounded like it wasn't getting enough water and possibly why when we opened the ball valve under the rinse tank it improved but didn't completely fix the problem.

That happened a lot when the 5CP first came out maybe one in ten pumps would have one fail, but I haven't seen or heard about it from anyone in probably 20 years. I had almost forgotten about it.

This is the guy near Dyna-Jet that does heads. His can fix anything but a broken heart or the crack of dawn.

and how is it running now?

So far so good! Tax title and license it was $208.31 ($200 for the job and $8.31 shipping Tx to Kansas). This head is on one of my busiest bays located next to the equipment room so should know how it holds up real soon. Been through 2 busy weekends at the wash and so far great but if anything pops I will post here to update everyone.
