Here we go again busy time of year all of a sudden an unreal amount of chargebacks start happening. Can’t we start some kind of law suit against Worldpay? And
No this is not the cost of accepting cc. It’s gotten so insane that I want to yank all my cryptopay swipes and taps out the bays. Has anyone switched to a different company with better results? My signs are very clear and easy to read but customers are so dumb and lazy they think they know what they are doing.

I had good luck winning chargebacks, but just lost one for $30.50 as I didn't want to arbitrate and lose $500. I sent them video and screen shots of the woman washing her vehicle and swiping her card, but they kept asking for our cancellation policy in writing and proof the customer knew about it. In the dispute she put that she canceled services on 12/12/22, even though her charges were not until she swiped her card in the bay on 1/13/23. No idea how that even gets to be disputed.

So they do accept screen shots?

I've never won a chargeback ever. I see many using gift cards so you can't track them by name. Type in "A Gift For You" on the cryptopay site and it shows you all of them. I figure the people who forget to stop the charges are paying for my chargebacks.

Can I ask how much the charge back was for? We had a lady hit us for $100 worth of tokens from our bill changers at 5 locations then called her credit card provider.

25$. Guy called me and I said I would work it out with him thinking you know ok nice guy honest mistake I will run him through the auto. Then today I see this. I wrote him saying I will be notifying the police for a fraudulent chargeback.

So they do accept screen shots?
You can upload them as evidence. Usually my disputes are about the total amount. They claim they spent $5 for example instead of $12 or whatever. I upload photos of my signs and explain how it works and I've won every one of those.

Wow. I did the same with the signs I posted and never win. What about raising cc prices to say $8 or 10 cause this only happens in bays

How would I do that?
I used a programmable ladder relay, connected all the second layer outputs to inputs on the relay, then programmed the relay to send a brief close circuit for the button. I did one wash with a Hamilton D.A.N. system and eliminated the button, and I modified Cryptopay swipers for another by soldering wires to the buttons for an external hookup. The relays aren't very expensive, and if you have enough spare wires going to the equipment room you could do four bays with one relay.

How are you winning? Through the credit card company or civil court? I use eport for my credit card transactions and they told me they have to refund EVERY customer who disputes a credit card charge. It's the agreement they've made with the credit card companies. They said my photo & video footage are useless.

It is not a Worldpay issue and as some posters below relate it's not limited to Worldpay. As a Gasoline retailer I dealt with this - even with Pay at the Pump and Chip acceptance. Most disputes start with "The Cardholder" or the Cardholder's Bank" So, it it kicked back to your processor - in this case Worldpay who doesn't want to eat the loss and them it's kicked back to the Merchant - because they can. I heard of at least one class action by merchants against the credit card companies. - don't know if it is still pending.

Ok but Worldpay does absolutely nothing to help us in this matter. You would think they would be on our side. Also it sucks that cryptopay is ONLY limited to Worldpay

It is my understanding that the new "chip/tap" laws allow exactly what Kimberly describes - if you only have swipe capability, tough crap, YOU pay for all chargebacks. I have a lot to say about what that means our country/world is devolving to, but Im pretty sure you dont want to hear it and since I dont think there is a solution I'll try to keep my mouth shut. :)

In the past I've won all of my chargeback disputes. (not many I admit.) My defense was simple:
1) there was a pre-auth, so the card was valid at the time of the purchase.
2) video of the person swiping the card. video of the person washing.

I deal with 4 processors. None of them do anything.

I have chip acceptance at Pay at the pump. Still got stuck with Charge backs. One claimed duplicate charge. Different days, different dispensers and different amounts. Another guy I was able to track down because he had an unusual name. Asked why he disputed charge and he explained he had been a victim of identity theft and card issuer sent card to some other address and the scammer then used the card. We got stuck both times. I fax the objection and strike all the BS about having to pay $500 figure I will cost them time and money to deny my protest.

I just respond on the Worldpay online portal. I usually win when the customer disputes the amount. The other type I get where the customer says the card is counterfeit and they didn't' use it, I lose those 100% of the time. Then there is the one of it's kind dispute I lost where the customer canceled services over 1 month before they even used the card at the wash.
