Charity Idea

I am thinking about taking one vended service per location and donating all the proceeds to a charity. I might start with a tire shine machine at each location and give all the proceeds to a veterans organization. I would identify it with large signs stating this on each unit. My idea would be to let the organization have the key to the coin vault and let them collect the monies on a scheduled basis. Tire shine machine is basically like a vac but set up for tire shine. Anyone could do this with a vac or small vendor. I think it would generate good community response. WHat are the forum brothers thoughts on this?

I wouldn't give them the keys. I'd put up a sign stating who the proceeds go to and send them a check each month.

If you plan to give them all the income, you might not want to use the word "proceeds." It can mean that only the profits above the operating costs are going to the charity.

I am new to the business. I was thinking about working with young life or the schools when they are trying to raise money for a trip or event.

My plan was to have them send 2-3 kids over to my wash on a saturday and then donate 1-2 dollars out of every wash.

has anyone tried this?

My thought is kids at the wash = Liability exposure. Let them sell tickets redeeemeable at your wash. You can provide them at a deep discount or even at no cost. when Solicited for donations provide wash tickets at no cost to them for them to sell or use as silent auction items. Some make a two part ticket with part being redeemable for a wash and part being a raffle ticket.

Yeah, my research concluded the same thing. You are taking a major liability risk when you put High Schoolers on your property that are not employees. If one of them does slips and falls, Mommy and Daddy are coming after you.

Only if they can show us an Event liability insurance policy and no one has yet been able to afford the policy so we haven’t had any charity car washes.
