City shut down my Wash!

City shut down my wash, because their water supply had to do repairs.

They die not call, text, voicemail, nor email me. Also, the rest of the city shut down @ 11pm, yet they shut me down @ 5pm!!!
Has anybody else ever dealt with this?

Got any advice? It's 8wm on a beautiful Fri & i should have a line in my Razor Edge & all SS bays should be banging!!!

I don't know the details but I am assuming its an emergency repair. Check your insurance for coverage.

Hopefully nothing broke, running pumps dry sounds like an awful thing to do. And yes, city has shut my water off a number of times but always gave me a heads up, sometimes super short notice but always enough time for me to block the bays off and stuff. I just sucked it up and took the loss.

Like Overachiever, our small town has shut off our water occaisionally for repairs. Sometimes the Water Dept. calls me directly, and other times, we just get an "Emergency" recorded message from the City advising of the area where repairs are being done. It's definitely a PIA to have to go down to the wash and turn things off and then having to wait to be advised that the water is back on. This small town has an ancient infrastructure that is constantly being repaired.

Happened to me the other day. No notice but found out there was some kind of repair going on. Luckily customer noticed no water and backed out before the wash started !! All

Being proactive goes a long way.
I call my water department head every 3 or 4 years to:
* Make sure it's the same person in charge
* See how he/she is doing and if they intend to retire soon
* Most importantly, maintain my business on their emergency call list to notify me of any service interruptions.
This has saved my bacon more than a dozen times over the years because it always seems to happen in the summer on busy days.
Nothing like doing X amount of reseal kits on your pumps (or worse) if they run dry.

Same....Happens more in the winter obviously with ruptured mains. Our town has a "One Call" to where I get a notification on my phone where the main break is. It lets me know if I have to take action...Most of the time, they don't shut off the water. They repair the break with a clam shell sleeve which also doesn't require a boil advisory for the area. You might look into whether your location has that service. Its saved my equipment more than once!

Got back up Sat 7:40am. We have had MANY Fri/Sat rains here, in past 5 mos. Has killed biz.
Finally get a full week of Sun, & BAM!! Costs us thousands!!
