Hello Good People of Autocareforum,
Starting yesterday one of our self serve bays doesn't accept some of the two-dollar coins. One dollar coin is ok. Do I need to clean something? Or totally change the COIN ACCEPTOR?

Thanks,

On the magikist you should be able to program 3 coins as well as the 2 it comes programed with as a default. Try programming the coin that it is not accepting to one of the programmable coins. Also check to see that both of the preprogrammed coins are in the acceptance mode. If you touch the wrong button it will turn them off. Download a owners manual from Kleenrite or similar supply house. The magikist are a pretty good acceptor IMO.

In my coin mech's I had to program them to accept loonies & toonies minted before 1996 and the newer ones from 96 forward. In other words I needed 4 channels to accept $1.00 & $ 2.00 coin.I'm using ma 812

Thanks guys but I don't think that its a programming issue as other bays coin collector works and its the same $2 as before, it just sometimes doesn't accept it. That's why I thought its simply a cleaning issue. I guess my question becomes, do we need to clean the coin collector on a regular basis like how we clean the credit card reader? And How? Thanks

It doesn't read the coin by "seeing" it, so cleaning or not shouldn't affect the reject rate.

I've had issues with other brands of acceptors losing their programming for no reason or fixing high reject fixed with a relearn, so that would be the first thing I'd try.
