Coin/Token/Cash less (no cash at bay/vacuum) System?

Hi All,

I’ve been searching for system that will provide these:

1. Accept cash but dispense a cash card instead of coins or tokens.
2. customer can buy new cash card or add money to an existing one.
3. All bays and vacs will accept the cash card along with CC/Debit cards

I have seen this in laundromats. Wondering if anyone knows or using it in SS. How is experience, cost, customer adaption, etc?

I myself am not familiar with that system. If somebody doesn't have an answer for you here, I suppose you can investigate it through the laundromat route.

The CCD is a bill changer/card dispenser, but if they don't offer a card dispenser only then you could configure the unit to give dollar coins for change or disable coin payout. The biggest cons are cost of the hardware, high CC fees (Probably the highest of any car wash system), and that everything has to be hard-wired.

If you already have Cryptopay then you could order the Valutec "store cards" and sell them pre-loaded at different price points in a spiral vendor. The downside for reloading them with cash at an un-attended location is that you would have to be there to accept the cash and then load it manually but is easy with a Worldpay programmed Verifone VX520 POS. (or you could reload it on the website)

American Changer has couple of card dispensers (AC 603 and 605). They will accept cash and dispense pre-valued cards. We can buy pre-valued card from Crypto pay partner Valuetec. I think if you do this, you can eliminate coin and tokens For good. Cash customer can buy this pre valued card to wash. Has anyone tried this?

Don't forget about the cost of the cards as they might be a large percentage of expenses if your start price is low (and the cards are low value) and your customers toss them in the trash after using. I'm not trying to discourage the idea because we also would like to figure out a way to satisfy cash customers without all the vulnerable coin mechs/validators and vaults out there.

I do a lot of bill changer business with the laundromat industry and the card laundromats, laundromats where you buy a card from the machine that is only good at that laundromat are slowly going away. In the last month I’ve seen 2 laundromats go totally cashless, credit cards or smartphone payment apps. Ripped out all the coin acceptors and the bill changer, totally cashless.

Coinless doesn't do cash. Our operators who still want to do cash just use traditional methods. How are managing cash customers now? Do you have quarter accepters and/or bill receivers?

7 years ago, we had a lot of quarter theft so converted over to $1 tokens, that customers can purchase with cash or credit/debit cards. The next step is to ADD a mobile payment app, as tokens have become very labor intensive (buying, sorting, cleaning). After much research, we're EXCITED to be installing the Coinless Mobile App next week on Wednesday 9/7. We'll still have the token system, for customers that want to continue to use tokens to wash/vacuum & purchase vending. My experience with Coinless has been very positive. They're easy to reach and talk to. Devices are reasonably priced and monthly fees are cheaper than other app companies. They use Clover for card processing, and they have also been easy to work with, fees are fair. Attached are a couple photos of signs I just put up today, getting ready for Wednesday. The banner and A-frame signs will be put up tomorrow!

Nayax. Tap debit (is our cash equivalent up here) visa, master, amex, Apple Pay, google, any future digital wallets. COVID has greatly accelerated demand for contactless payments and show me a millennial with cash on them.

Zero coin jams and target for theft. I was getting hit weekly with break-ins before, the impetus to go coin-less for me.

Sales are up with count up and the only time I visit my vacs is for preventative maintenance and to hang up the hoses

I agonized moving away from coin but couldn’t be happier. Plus Beacon and other Apps can integrate as well.

Hi Cool Wash, it's been 3 days and it's NOT fully hooked up yet, but we're making progress. I don't have CryptoPay at my car wash. I looked into it 7 years ago, but it wasn't a good fit for us. We went with $1 tokens instead can be purchased at the Cash Machine (1 CC reader), and then use on all our equipment (20 machines). I've been talking to my current CC customers and most plan to use the Coinless app. I put up a 3' x 8' banner, an A-frame sign and bays signs to promote Coinless. I'm hopeful it will be up and running this week!

Here's an update on my Coinless installation so far...

It's been 3 days and the system is still NOT fully hooked up or tested. While the progress has been slow-going, we are making progress!

I believe the issues we're having is a combination of working outside on the hottest days in Sacramento, California history (111 - 116 degrees), working with 40 year old vacuums (encased in more metal), not having extra bay wires and not fully understanding how the Coinless devices are installed and work.

A strong WIFI signal is needed for the Coinless devices to communicate with the app (in the Cloud) NOT each other.

Braden and Connor with Coinless have been very accessible and helpful.

I hired a local car wash installation company to install the Coinless system last week. They admitted they have never installed anything like this, but willing to learn. Though knowledgeable, they are not electrical or WIFI experts. I met with them in July to review the Coinless devices, the electrical setup and my 40 year old equipment. The CW tech determined my WIFI signal was weak, so I had a WIFI extender installed in Bay 3. The CW tech called and spoke to Braden with Coinless a couple times to better understand their system and installation.

For the bays, the original plan was to install the Coinslayer INSIDE the metal electrical panel (inside my pump room), and connect to the existing timer wires for each of the 5 SS bays. However, the CW tech was unable to find a spare wire, so we decided it would be faster to hire a 3rd party electrician to pull new wires, through conduit, which we did.

For the vacuums, I have 4 old Doyle vacuums, where the timers are located between the aluminum motor housing, sheet metal panel and fiberglass. The original plan was to install the smaller blue devices (Coinitos), near the timer. Unfortunately, we could not get a WIFI signal through the metal. I also have a newer upright IVS vacuum, with a plastic dome lid, and the CW tech was able to quickly & easily install the Coinito inside the SS box and get a WIFI signal.

The CW tech called Coinless about the WIFI issues we were having with the Doyle vacuums, and they recommended putting the small Coinitos inside a plastic electrical box, mounted outside the vacuums. Coinless shipped me 2 plastic boxes from Amazon at no charge, and I received them the SAME day. The next day the CW tech pulled the wires through the existing conduit and we plan to mount the plastic box up higher behind a pedestal Carpet Shampoo and Spray Fragrance machine. It's not ideal as car washes are vulnerable to theft and vandalism, but we're optimistic the WIFI signal will work when the CW tech returns tomorrow.

After talking to Coinless again this morning about the WIFI signal, they recommended moving the Coinslayer OUTIDE the metal electrical panel, so there is no obstruction between the WIFI signal and the Router (located inside the Pump Room).

I'll post some photos and an update tomorrow!
