combo vac button tips cut off

This morning at my wash the Coleman combo vacs had the yellow tips cut off all the selector buttons. They lasted a year. It appears coleman uses easy to destroy selector buttons. They are almost $20.00 each. Does anyone know of a button that cannot be cut so easy? If so, where would we get some? The
buttons still work. Will not replace with the easy to cut buttons from Coleman again.
Thanks

A regular self serve selector knob should do. You can get them from any of the vendors. Dultmeier, Wintrex, Sonny's.

I think they are momentary contact buttons meaning when you push it they make contact momentarily which causes a relay to close. Check it with a continuity testor. I think radio shack may have a metal version.

You may have issues then with how weather resitant the metal version is.

Then , if the push button sticks out to far the dickweeed who cuts them may just wack them at an angle to try and break them.

Plus, if they can't try their cutting tool on the buttons they may just find another target.

Check mouser.com. They have many buttons for various size holes, some that are weather- and vandal-proof. I can get some that exactly match certain manufacturer's hardware at a third of the cost.
