I'd guess the car wash is in a very depressed area. I can't imagine anyone taking a chance of offending a large percentage of customers with that sign...it tells me that a large percentage of his customers are pretty low class.

Maybe it could be considered a public service announcement?

You are right JJ, You are a little behind the curve. Pefect or not, "Just say NO" is a pathetic solution. If one less unwanted kid is born, I'd be giving them away.

Not that I would know anything about failure rate, but I'd say .001% is more like it.

I wouldn't vend condoms but I don't have a problem with the concept. What I think was poorly-thought-out was the sign. He could have said the same thing without the double-entendre which will no doubt offend some customers. At my car washes, the only customers I can afford to offend are the mudders. :)

Btw, tried a new concept yesterday. To start with, it is IMPOSSIBLE to miss the signs stating out policy on excessive mud in my open bay. Impossible! So, when the cowboy that came yesterday left me 300lbs of mud on the floor, walls, hose, bill acceptor, Wash Gear reader, I knew he intended to. I got his tag from a camera, found he lives in Houston so he probably thought "Hey, what can he do about it, I live 500 miles away." I sent him a bill for $250 and a note that said if he doesn't send the money he'll be invited back to West Texas to Small Claims Court. If he ignores that I may sick a collection agency after him too.

You couldn't pay me enough

I've go no problem selling condoms, but you couldn't pay me enough to put that sign up. Talk about insulting to 50% of your customers!

Condoms

Personally I enjoy going to the drug store, and buying the large one's. I always walk out slowly. When I fill them with a certain ???, boy is that fun! Fourth all over again. Don't want to be too specific. We know how to have fun here in the midwest. I wouldn't sell them at the wash though.

I just started selling air fresheners that are a little controversial. Got them at K-R. They are called T&A and Sexy. The sexy ones have a black strip over the bare T's. The T and A are just in bathing suits, I'm hoping the single guys buy a few, they cost .65 and I'm selling for $2 . We'll see if they sell, no one else in town sells these.
