Hello Friends,
I have count up in my bays with a max of $10. When the customers swipe their card they get charged a temporary hold of $10. When the hold clears which can take up to 3 days, they get charged the cost of the transaction. I received few calls from customers complaining that they used $4 worth but they got charged $10 to whom I had to explain the whole process. Another challenge is that most customers nowadays have notifications on their phones, so they they get a notification of a $10 charge right away. Finally, I met a customer yesterday with a brand new Porsche who is asking about the change machine, when I told him that we take cards, he stated that last time it charged him $10
Button line, this is becoming a problem and trying to find a solution. I wish the credit card company would charge cost of the transaction right away but it is not the case. I put a note on boxes advising the customers that a $10 hold will be placed on their card and will be replaced by the final transaction amount.
Another challenge I have is a carwash down the road have count down with only $2 to start and gives 5 min. This is more appealing.
Did you all have the same issue and how did you get around it?
Thank you
