Delicate Issue...

For months and months I've noticed a lady who works at the coffee shop next door walking around the parking lot early each morning. Today while watching the video I see why, she goes to each ACW, changers, vacs and vendors looking for left-behind quarters.

Now, most people would think that those quarters belong to me, but I have always given that money to charities because I don't feel like it's mine. But it's darn sure not hers, either.

I guess it's not a delicate issue afterall because there's no way I can say anything about it.

Maybe she's having trouble paying her bills. Perhaps you could by an extra cup or two of coffee each day and leave her a nice tip. Think of it as your own personal charity.;):)

I would think that anything mistakenly left behind belongs to the person who left it until a reasoneable period passes at which point it would be considered abandoned.

If a person left $ behind and returned to retrieve it you would give it to them. So, perhaps you can simple explain to her that if a person who left $ behind returns and looks for $ she retrieved she can expect that you will happlily send them her way.

I think she should give out a free carwash coupon to 1 random customer per day - heck, she's already on your "payroll," you might as well get some work out of her
:)

fwiw, I dont think its delicate, and even if it were I would say something if I wanted to. In this case I'd speculate that you'd probably just end up with someone who badmouths your business, which is why I'd put look for a way to get her to market for you.

I would think that instead of asking her to stop, you might explain to her what you do with found change. If she still does it, you'll have a better view of the type of person she is and it might be easier to tell her to stay away.

For what it's worth, that bugs me too. I saw a guy tour through on video every morning, and once when I had been there all night he walked by the equipment room, looked at me through the open door and sneered at me. That ****ed me off - he doesn't come around anymore.

I have an old guy who comes by every day. He rifles through the trash looking for cans. He never makes a mess and I have less trash to deal with. A win win!

How often does she find anything?

Tell her she can only keep the change if while going through she hangs hoses, picks up loose trash, and notifies you of any issues she sees. Let her know you know she does this because you review the cameras, and if the next time you review and she doesn't do what you've asked, then tell her to stop.

Don't you have more important things to worry about? Maybe you should call the police next time and have her charged for theft. Sheesh!

I run the scroungers off because I am worried about them slipping and falling during the winter months, then suing me. If you're not useing my services, get lost.
