Starting a new thread here hoping it may get more attention then the one below.

MEP001 was right - not that I should have doubted him in the first place - RC800's are back-ordered and have been. One vendor told me that IDX is having trouble finding a supplier of one component and there's no end in sight.

Does anyone have one they'd like to sell or rent?
The closer to PA, the better.

Thanks,
Tom

You caught them on a good day. I got yelled at for requesting a timer manual.

I have not had to call IDX for a long time. Is Mike Oliver still around? I met him at a Heartland Car Wash Show. I can't imagine him not wanting to give the best service he can. Unless maybe he is still messing with the distraction of the RFID system he seemed to be a bit too enamored with when I visited with him & actually sat at the same table with him while he accepted an award from the Heartland CW Association. Many moons ago he was a steady regular in the earlier days of this specific car wash forum that was founded by William Pitzer. If I remember right while on the forum he went out of his way to clarify IDX products when needed.

Hello,
Looks like you got one from IDX, but I have a used one I can sell you or anyone else that needs one. It doesn't have the cable, but I believe its just a standard phone cable. Thanks! John

I believe its just a standard phone cable.
It's not exactly a standard cable, it has a 4-wire clip plug on one end and a 6-wire clip plug on the other. They're hard to find now that you can't buy corded phones everywhere, but they're not impossible to locate. It was the standard cord between the phone handset and the base. The 6-wire plug goes into the controller - it's possible a cord with 4-wire plugs on both ends will work, I haven't tried. Those you can pick up anywhere.

I spoke with Mike but didn't get the last name but it sounds like the same Mike - giving the best service he can.

Actually, I have had the opposite experience with IDX than many here have apparently had:
They either answered the phone when I called or called me back when they were busy. How 'bout that? Not too many call you back - especially when you're just a nobody end-user. I'm not as good at calling back as I should be.
Mike and Robert have been very helpful.
They had RC800's on the shelf - shipped out same day.
Perhaps the newer stuff isn't as good as the old stuff but the old stuff sure isn't "junk". It's 25 years old and hasn't been in operation for 3 years (at least) and still works. 4 bays, 4 IDX coin acceptors, 4 IDX Timers, 4 IDX Displays and only one failed timer in the bunch.
I'll buy more IDX stuff until I experience the bad stuff myself. But with my experience thus far, I'll give them the benefit of any doubt.
