different air lift door question

I had to replace a clevis on the chain for one of my doors yesterday. The chain still seems to have too much play in it although the clevis is tightened as much as it will go. I may end up having to remove a link from the chain. The chain goes around a sprocket at the top and just a round plastic or mylar piece at the bottom. It seems like the plastic piece should spin as the chain moves around it but mine do not on either door. Is this piece supposed to move? It seems like it would wear out very quickly if it did not.
Thanks

Get yourself a chain breaker, WW Grainger has them and remove as many links as possible while still leaving the clevis bolt threads in the clevis.

The pulley near the cylinder should move freely but it is common for these to become jammed from dirt and debris. Remove and clean, lube and reassemble.

Thanks John. I thought that must need to roll. You don't know off the top of your head what gauge chain that is do you? I think I can remove at least 2 links.
