I assume you have to do a bunch of replumbing to make them work in place of what you have, but FWIW I prefer to make the final hookup with stainless steel water heater connectors. The hard part will be finding someone who won't screw you. I helped someone change out his old-style Paloma to a new Rheem, and it took maybe 45 minutes. His preferred plumber was going to charge him $3000 for the heater and installation - he got the heater for $1100.
