Randy sent me one of the new Dixmore ACW display test controllers today. It was a simple plug and play install. All I can say is WOW!!!!. It has larger letters that are much easier to read than any autocashier I have ever seen. I can read the scrolling letters from over 60 feet away. Makes the 15 year old ACW seem new. I have it right next to a hamilton Goldline with the LCD display and I wish the goldline was this easy to read. The letters scroll across the display at a slow rate making it very easy to read. Once they start selling these I would recommend it to everyone. The original display was always a scource of customers complaints.I sent Randy 3 more controllers to get the retrofit.

I tried to take pictures of it but my camara for some reason only will show half of the letters as they scroll. To the naked eye all you see is crisp letters. I think the camara is too smart for its own good. Randy soldered the wire for the display board in before he sent it to me. All I had to do was take the old controller out and put the new one in.

If it is in programming mode, do the letters not move? Maybe you could get a pic that way. I don't know why I'm worrying about it though, since I have one on the way myself.

It's because LEDs flash at a very high frequency. Digital cameras without a mechanical shutter are almost always going to do that.

They aren’t available yet. They should be available the middle of June.

The LED is made by Dixmor and for now is only for the ACW 4 and 5. Hamilton is planning to offer it as a retrofit. A rep came by the wash yesterday and showed me a new large full-color LCD that will be for the Goldline.

Ok. Is this a "red" led display that replaces the backlit one line display that is in the upper left corner of the gold line? or is this a replacment for the optional message screen mounted on top of the gold line. I'm hoping for option one, as the internal small display on my gold line is not working (the back light, that is) I'd rather replace with this new brighter display. When are these to be out and from whom to we get these, Dixmor?, Hamilton?, ???.

thanks

The red led display I posted about is for pre goldline ACWs and replaces the display that was mounted on the controller that sits on the door of these older units. I think with all the demand they have for these units it would be logical for them to do something with the goldline display.

Mep, The large color LCD display that the Hamilton Rep showed you is the Graphic display that has been available for some time. A retrofit kit is available for the Goldline ACW only at a list price of $1350.00. The kit includes controller software upgrade, face panel and graphic display.

Chav, The display is a Red LED scrolling display and is only available for the ACW-4/5’s, they should be in available in mid June. They do require a small modication to the ACW 4/5 controller board. They are working on a replacement Red LED display for the Goldline ACW that will replace the LCD display that is mounted on the upper left hand corner of the door, there is no date as to when this display will be available. I believe the Goldline Red LED display will be a plug and play display.

Here is a pic of the one Randy put on my controller.

As was stated earlier, a good picture is hard to capture since it is moving, but I think you get the gist anyway. I couldn't believe the difference after I put this thing in my ACW. My lexan face is cloudy enough that customers were cupping their hands around the display to read it. Now it can easily be read from 25 feet away. Needless to say, I have four more of these ordered for my other controllers.

You must need glasses real bad Pat. I can read mine from over 60 feet away. I also am upgrading the rest of my ACws to use this new display.

I got 2 more acws converted over to the dixmore displays today. It makes an instant impression and upgrade. In the month since I installed the first one a interesting thing happened. I have 2 IBA exactly alike except for the pay stations. One is a hamilton goldline and one was an older acw 5 with the hard to read display. The goldline unit always had higher sales and I think it was because people could read it easier. Now with the acw having the easier to read display the sales between the two autos are almost identical.
